Zod! That's funny.:lol

Take a look at this comparison photo. I often find this most informative to see differences.

I've marked areas I think need work. Comments?

RDJ-COMPARE.jpg

Lips are too full, watch the jawline, his outer face line tapers down more subtly than your current sculpt, and the eyebrows need to be subtle in the sculpt, as paint will bring them out more. I don't know that you will need to use that much ridge to shape them, but I may be wrong. Profile may say otherwise.
The set of the eyes is really good, the nose needs to point down a tad more, and watch for the "split" at the tip of it... Find a really good profile shot for his nose...
And your red arrow points, and you have him.

Not bad old friend! Not bad at all!

Oh, and thin the loose tufts of hair on his brow a tad. They seem too stated in your sculpt.

Thank you friends, good input. Normally I only have one or two people to bounce the rough off of, but this is quite nice! I like the group effort approach. This way everyone gets to be part of the process if they so desire. Now on to refinement.

I'll post more photos as I refine the likeness. Just a note: I always leave final hair placement/refinement until after the likeness is set. So, he'll still just have crude hair mass until then. So it'll get thinned out and lengthened as need be after the next set of photos.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the extended silence. Had some difficult family stuff crop up. Mother-in-law had to have an emergency hip replacement (old implant popped out several days in a row, got to know the emergency room) that didn't go so well and we're her only family here to take care of her. Then to top it off my father, who's 82, fell and hurt himself! Once again to the emergency room. They're getting to know me....Odd how events cluster. Makes me jumpy!

Don't mean to moan and groan, just wanted to let you know I'm still here and back on things.

Anyway, I've been addressing the points previously mentioned, plus a few more refinements I determined were necessary. Looking good so far.

I'll try to have the updated photos tonight or tomorrow and we can see about getting him wrapped up.

Thanks!

I hadn't seen this thread before. that looks really good. is it too late to get in on this?

Since my timing is so bad on this, I'll extend the Sideshow Freak discount I offered previously. $35.00 for the first copy, $10.00 for each additional copy, plus $5.00 shipping (for any quantity).

It's a little more expensive than for those who jumped on board for the initial commission, but it keeps it fair to them.

Just let me know. My PayPal address is [email protected].

No problem, man! Hope everything is under control and best wishes to your family.

That said, I can't wait to see Tony!

Thank you for the kind thoughts. I think everyone's going to be OK. It's just amazing how the universe occasionally gangs events together. I'd like a more uniform universe, please! Spread it out a bit.

I get itchy when work gets delayed. Comes from years of nervous product managers breathing down my neck...:D

I am new here and kind of trying to catch up on posts from before I joined but is it too late to get in on a Tony Stark head sculpt? Thanks. Mike.
P. S. hope things are going ok with your family.

Hello,

Here is RDJ version 2. I found myself terribly dissatisfied with the first version of the sculpt, so this is nearly a complete resculpt. I preserved the eyes and ears and pretty much scrapped the rest. You can never be afraid to do that if you think it makes sense! I think it's much closer now.

Still needs a few tweaks, perhaps a little fuller hair on top, maybe slight reduction of bottom lip and, of course, finish texture and cleanup.

Anyone see anything that really stands out? Please weigh in.

Thanks for the kind thought, things are settling down, knock on wood.

The deal I'm offering to Sideshow Freaks members who would like to get on board now is $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping for the first copy, $10.00 each for additional copies.

If you'd like one (or more!) you can send a PayPal payment to me at [email protected].

If the consensus is that he's pretty close to done, I'd like to get him cleaned up and under rubber this week so I can start casting and shipping shortly thereafter.

Thanks!

one other question, which type of body will this fit on?

I'm going to cast him with a "raw" neck. That way the individual can choose his favorite 1/6 body to put it on. It will be hard polyurethane, so will easily be drilled or cut as need be. I suggest you do this before painting.

If anyone screws their copy up fitting it, just send it back and I'll send a fresh copy.

Chris, man it looks AWESOME!, you already know the tweaks that need to be done, i think the lower lip is rather ok though but tweak away, and ask for the hair, a more detailed and fuller look would definately complete the headsculpt.
