Says Ikon on the bottom of the 181 statues, I believe Ikon only sells in Australia.... Even at 581 statues it's still a pretty limited ES... But I can understand peoples concern as this could be a preview that Iron Studios is willing to ignore their promise of Edition Sizes..

Blah blah blah, no one said they loved it less. it's releasing one ES and they releasing a new numbered set of the same statue. sick of all those that say ES doesn't bother them.
So...you're sick of people who love a statue for what it is? What a joke. I'm truly sorry that you can't appreciate things beyond their value. I own worthless "artist proof" statues, broken statues that I repaired, which outwardly appear perfect now. I don't care about anything beyond the enjoyment I get from looking at it. I'm not going to apologize for not getting hung up on the dollar value of something.

And, sorry, but ES is meaningless to me! As long as the higher ES doesn't come at the cost of quality, I don't care one bit. It's silly to say I am somehow in the wrong for not caring about it. I am not the type of person to get less enjoyment from something because it's not worth as much as the next thing. The opposite attitude is the single thing I hate most about "collectors". Like people buying comics books as an investment instead of for enjoyment.

At least some reasonable people here mentioned the issue of transparency rather than really caring about the value. I hope that's true.

I did too. you came in looking to irritate people with that comment because you know it's a polarizing topic. So don't go all holier than thou.

No. I didn't. If that's what you read into it then that says more about your mindset that mine. You should go reread what I wrote. It was actually way more judicial than I feel. I said I personally couldn't care less, but understood the feelings of people who did care more about those things.

I guess it does. thank you freud.

I don't care from the perspective of potential value of the statue. I will never sell this one...it is stellar. I just think a company owes it to the collectors to give the full ES otherwise what is the point of even having an ES. Just list it as an open ended run.

Yep, it can't be that difficult to at least mention there is this so called special edition of 181 more to begin with. What's stopping them with coming up with "special" editions for any country? I just don't like funny business like this. It's almost like making it open es without classifying it as such. Very thin line.

Can we just stop this? You misread my post. Fine. I know it's like an ol' boys club in here a lot of the time, longtime members giving newer members a hard time or simply ignoring them. I don't understand why everything has to be antagonistic. The simple fact that you assumed I meant what I wrote as such speaks to the fact that the collector attitude is often toxic, and I don't wish to add to that. In fact, my reaction was in response to being told my opinion was lesser because I didn't care about ES. The truth is, I really don't care what other people feel is the "true" value of something. I am not a judgmental person. A good example would be flippers. It's called capitalism. If they are wiling to take the inherent risks involved, I don't have a problem with that. Any, I digress.

We'll see what Iron Studios has to say. I, and only I, don't care. When they announced the much higher Spidey ES, I didn't bat an eye and ordered one immediately. I did read a lot of complaints about it, however. I, personally, just don't care. As I said, as long as the quality isn't affected, which I think is most people's recent issues with Sideshow.

I hope this makes it clear that I also don't care what other people find "value" in. For me, it's just that item that sits on my shelf and I can get enjoyment out of when I look at it.

of course we can. Really not that big a deal. it's done.

Aren't you two close enough to meet for coffee and hug it out? :hi5: I kid, I kid. Any hoo. I have bought plenty of things with open ended runs. I just want the full details.

Good points. The more I think about this, the more it bugs me from the standpoint that I could have waited to buy the statue.

I think a lot of us aren't upset about the resell value, it's about getting what we paid for. The rarity of an item is a major factor that determines the price for collectibles, and that goes for pre-orders and retail, not just the aftermarket. ES 400 is what Iron Studios set the rarity at, and now it's 581 and could possibly go even higher. Unless there is something we are missing that makes the 181 ES and any future editions very different from the other 400, this is bait and switch.

And I don't disagree with this. I'm assuming it was a late decision to provide these 181 after the initial ES was set. Maybe the high initial Spider-Man ES shows that this won't be an issue in the future.

I think this is a good point. I think the run of the Spiderman might be in reaction to the demand of this and the Iron Man product.

This doesn't make me love my statue any less, and normally I don't care about how many pieces were made. My ONLY concern would be if the value goes down and this suddenly becomes available for less, because obviously we all paid a lot for this piece.

It does seem a little odd/dishonest... Although unlike some people I'm seeing on FB, it doesn't make me want to sell my statue or anything.

Well that's extreme:) I'm still waiting to hear from my seller as to whether he's even going to get me a statue.

Yeah, some people seem to be pretty upset. I dunno... I mean, I guess it depends on your values/preferences as a collector. I don't feel the same way myself, but I can see where they're coming from.

they are doing special editions for spiderman and iron man too.

I paid a lot for iron man, so I am disappointed. I could have likely got him for less down the road since they are increasing the edition size.

I didn't buy spidey and am now glad I did not. He already has a high edition size which will be even greater now thanks to the re-release. I will wait for a deal down the road on him and anything else this company produces from now on.

Really? Wow that is some kinda crazy stunt. Hey I will keep my order in. if it happens it happens. This is a beautiful piece of art

What's the point of having an ES if it means nothing?

This kind of thing bugs the hell out of me.
