I think that's the window for the diorama. The standalone that's shown in the pictures above looks like production-complete already.

Looks stupid just standing on that rock. Why couldn't they just release the one standing on the jeep on its own?

Tx for posting these!!!
What are your thoughts about it?

It seems wayyyyy too dark no? I know it's meant to be at night, in the jungle… but still…?

Yep, it is very dark indeed. They tried to emulate the dark scene mood, but it’s too dark in my opinion. Haven’t seen it in natural lightning conditions yet.

On the other hand, it’s a little bland, but I think that is to be expected with a mass production piece like this. It lacks some detail, it’s mainly airbrushed with no fine detail (maybe it could borrow some freckles from Chronicle).

Overall, once you get passed that “darky” feeling, it looks pretty good.

The sculpt is very well done, this thing is massive, and I really mean it. I wasn’t expecting it to be this big. It’s a very impressive piece.

As it is, with it’s flaws, it definitely stands out and looks cool. With a proper repaint, it would be ****in awesome.

I understand mass production resorting to airbrushing, but there is so much detail to Rexy, especially the Winston animatronic, you'll just never get that in mass production paint work. A proper paint job needs time and care, hope to see one of the artists that did amazing work with the breakout Rexy take a stab at this one.

The size and sculpt does look awesome! But man if that's how the paint is going to be on the diorama piece that's a let down for the price. Hard to really tell not seeing in person but the mouth and everywhere just needs those extra touches it seems.

I think even the standard base could do with a repaint to make it that bit more impressive.

You have to imagine cost must be the main factor.

For the most part, they followed their prototype, but there's a downgrade to how it was applied.

Prototype looks like a mix of airbrush and tradition brush techniques, where the final piece looks 100% airbrushed and done quickly.

Ultimately, it's still one of the better mass production Rex pieces released to date, but it could have been something stellar if they delivered the prototype paint.

It is too complex of a paint job for any factory to nail. Can't wait to see what Chronicle and Prime1 do.

I would say probably, as no mass produced piece has done it, even some protoptypes aren't accurate. This prototype for this statue was the best looking mass production Rexy I've ever seen offered, not 100% spot on but quite close, but production doesn't live up to it.

The challenge is there are a lot of subtle details to Rexy that require time and delicate hands, which is too much for mass production, but along those lines, I feel like it would be better to simplify the paint scheme around the limits of mass production and have an overall more accurate look that's just lacking detail.

For example, the "dark" comments about this, the statue has more of the darker tones used all over than it should there should be quite a bit more of the lighter tones showing, so had they just got the basic overall shades more balanced and just lacked some fine detail, this might look better. It's not awful by any means, to me it blows away Chronicle production.

Once again another example of a night and day difference between what is promised and what you actually get. Really wanted this diorama but when the main star of the diorama looks like **** the rest just is not enough to justify close to $3000 with shipping. Might pick up a standalone Explorer as they should be able to nail a car paintjob (hopefully)
