Wow, I might just decide to cancel my diorama after seeing this. I think I've made seven out of ten payments so that's a lot of store credit.

I also think in going to cancel my waitlist, might get the cheap huge toy and get it repainted. Could do that and get an explorer and save a nice chunk of cash. I still think this is an awesome piece though.

OK everyone calm down, don't make any haste decisions, this will be a grail piece, like many before it we regretted not getting.....
Wait to see the final diorama set, I'm still super excited for this and can't wait to see the Rex on top of the car.

Diorama is expensive (for my Polish conditions even very expensive) but when I seen it, I want it and nothing has changed :)

Agreed - the diorama with the fencing, the jeep the better base, the plant foliage - the rex will look so much better on that - the colour of this base is not very good for the colouring of the Rex

Don’t expect a different paintjob for the diorama, they might be already mass produced at the same time, waiting for the rest of the parts to be done.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s awfull, it’s just not as great as the prototype. I’m happy with it, it’s a very impressive piece overall.

I might try a repaint at some point, very busy right now. I don’t even think it’s necessary to do a full repaint from scratch, the original scheme could be used as a base to add fine detailing and increase the mid-high tones to give it more contrast and complex texture. We’ll see.

The Rex on full diorama will probably have some rain effect like the rest of that piece, would be weird otherwise, but i'm not exactly over the moon about that since i hate everything that resemble gloss finish on these animals. Really hope to be satisfied with the effect on the final piece.

Looks much better in these pics from Instagram btw:

And for those saying it's too dark:

The first two pics on the right (third on the right is a maquette from the sequel on which basically everyone outside of IS base their JP Rex colours on) show the screen accurate colors of this beast, and the animal is dark as ****.
IS achieved a very similar result so it will look extremely accurate under certain lights, others will however reveal the use of green which is just not accurate.
A mix of what we got on this piece and these coincidentally perfect representation of this animal paint scheme (say like 35% IS Rex, 65% Apato/Raptor) would satisfy everyone i think.

But even just the Apato/Raptor color scheme would be enough for me.

It depends on what you’re looking for. Your comparison is to the maquette, but the animatronic isn’t 100% same as the final animatronic. If you want a maquette paint job, IS piece may not be far off, but if you want animatronic, it’s too much of the dark, it looks all dark with just a slightly light underbelly.

This custom job, for me, is definitive Rexy animatronic color scheme and my inspiration for painting my super colossal.

Ouch, does not look good. Paint apps look terrible on production piece, at least these pics.

Personally, screen accuracy. The rex animatronic can be seen, in pieces, in one photochemically darkened scene during night and under heavy rain. Sure it's one of the most iconic and better realized scenes in cinema history, but unlike the animatronic the CG version based on that maquette can also be seen multiple times during the day, doing all the exciting stuff.

As always kudos to Manuel for that repaint, though. :)

I'm just patiently waiting for one of you to cancel your order from CC so I can get my waitlist converted.:impatient:

It really depends on lighting condition, with direct light it looks better. In low light the different color shades tend to blend, resulting on a darker and less detailed look.
