Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

It seems that once there’s a light up feature it automatically goes up by a further $200.

So with the last Spidey being $799.99 it should get close. My guess is $999.99.

Unfortunately it seems my guess on price was dead on :dunno

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

I really like the Spidey suit still, but no way in hell I'm paying $1k for that. I'll take my comic options for less.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Does anyone else noticed that this Spidey is the first 1/4 scale IS sales on their U.S site.
Until now they could sell 1/4 in the U.S only via sideshow.
Does anyone know what changed? sounds like they got a new license arrangement. this is good news.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Awesome statue but like someone already said if the lights burn out this piece is going to lose a crap ton of its value. Awesome pose and everything but hard pass for me. To much of a gamble with the lights.

Honestly when I eventually do get this I’m not sure how much of the light up function I’ll actually use because of ‘unknown longevity’ issues. I wonder if I can use external coloured lighting to somehow get a similar effect.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Suit and Spidey are amazing on this. The base is too busy IMO. Makes this statue a hard pass for me. The price doesn't help matters.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

I wish they would have just painted it to look like it was lit up.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Well it took longer than usual, but this is finally up for preorder over at Popcultcha (Australia) for the very low price of $1,699.99 AUD :gah:

Though I shouldn’t be surprised as recent preorders have been at AUD/0.58 recently with our currency at its lowest in like a decade at 0.65 USD.

But the least they can do is throw us a bone with their early preorder discounts, but they’ve only been applying those to Iron Studios 1/10 scale lines, but not their 1/4 pieces.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Yea prices are getting crazy over here now. Will definitely need to slow down my purchases and be more selective.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

This hobby used to be great when statues were 300$ to 600$. Now that almost every statue is 1,000 to 3,000 it's unappealing. You can get CGC graded silver age comics for cheaper than the statues. And the comics will hold their value at a much better rate than statues ever will.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Agreed. If a statue is 1K to 3K, then I'd rather buy CGC graded silver age comics. No way would I buy a statue.

A statue has to be very compelling ...in sculpt, pose, proportions and paint as well as in character ...to even consider a statue at 1K.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Not to mention how much easier it is to ship and buy/sell graded comics. Statues can be a bit of a nightmare.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

I’ve never been interested in CGC books. I personally would prefer the statues over graded comics. Actually I’m fine just getting the Omnibus’ and reading stories digitally via apps like Marvel Unlimited.

With a statue you get to enjoy it for what it is but with an old comic in a slab, you can’t even touch the damn thing.

Yes it’s a better investment in a lot of cases, though those spec books can be risky.

And anyway in general, buying statues hasn’t been a good investment since I first started collecting like 5-6 years ago.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

Aren't both designed to be looked at and not touched?

Yes, but the slabbed comic you don’t get to see it all in its entirety with all its internal pages, whereas with the statue you enjoy it as how it was originally designed doing.

And usually any comic worth their salt, is old styled art...... with the only thing being attractive about it is the dollar signs in front of it.

Nonsense. Frank Frazetta, Mac Raboy, L.B. Cole, Basil Wolverton, Fletcher Hanks, Lou Fine, Will Eisner, Al Feldstein, Wally Wood, Bill Everett, Matt Baker, and many others produced beautiful work.

After posting that, I knew I would get a response.......my apologies, as I shouldn’t have said work from a certain era was unattractive. They’re cool and all, but most 2D artwork from back then is just not for me, but I can understand I may be in the minority.

And to be honest I had only heard of a couple of those names, like Frank Frazetta. So much so I had to google for some examples of their artwork. And let’s just say it didn’t really change my opinion all that much, as it’s just not for me. I can barely go through any comics from the golden or silver ages because of their style of art and colouring, but that’s just a matter of personal taste.

Re: Iron Studios - Spider Man Legacy Replica - 1/4 Scale from "Far from Home"

If the comics never came out you'd have no statues to collect. How often do you touch your statues? Other than to clean them? Comics are a piece of history and art. Statues are just art.

Personally the older comics art style and story are 1000x better than 90% of the comics that are saturating the market today.

Silver age comics will always be in demand, statues with the current price hikes will eventually knock all the collectors out. No one would ever pay 2mil for a statue but they did pay 2mil for amazing fanisty 15 which was a 10c comic.

Not denying anything you’ve said. And you’re right as an investment older comics will always be commanding attention. Since the 90s explosion in popularity there are so many speculators in the comic book market. And I do see an end in statue collecting, but the comics themselves will always be in demand for many reasons.

I was only saying the art is just not for me, and yes while I prefer the new art style since the early 90s, the quality of the storyline’s can be all over the place no matter the era.
