As the title says. Is it okay to create a discussion thread here for something like this?

I created a discord server for film, TV, 4K blu ray, and home theater discussion and wasn't sure if it's cool to post about something like that here. I mean, it's not like its going to be "competition" for this extremely robust, thriving community. But I just want to make sure I respect the etiquette.

Anyway, this question got me thinking that I would like to find some other places to discuss and review movies. I post regularly at a 4K blu ray forum. I belong to some subreddits pertaining to movies. But again, I won't link them unless/until it's clear that it's okay to do so! And I'd like to learn about others if it's okay to share about that here.

Why not, as a suggestion, start a full time dedicated thread for yourself here in this section where you, in detail and length, share reviews, your film-phile thoughts, etc, etc ( i.e. "Alatar's Entertainment Corner" ) and then, at the end of each post, link what you want to link. And keep supporting it with consistent rolling updates. That way you can enrich this community with new content and also help any personal individual platform you are trying to build.

Those who contribute to the community with more engagement, I tend to notice more doors are going to open for them as a natural consequence of that. More effort never hurt anybody. As you give freely to the community you are within, the ropes around the place tend to loosen some. But I'm not the one to tell you formally what you can or can't do.

These SSF forums are dying. Slowly, but still dying. Sad for me to see it happen. For you to generate more content here, to share here, it helps extend it's potential life span.

Something I've said before in the past is if every long term SSF "veteran" started just two thread topics, and supported them long term, anywhere on the site, then this place would start to look like it did back in 2010 again.

Good luck, whatever you choose.
