Just got my fedex bill. The item this time is the Predator statue. OK statue, but not perfect or mindblowing in any sense.

Here's the numbers in US dollars:

Statue - 299.99
Shipping - 67.69
Fedex bill for tax - 153.36 (over half of the price of the statue, did they raise the prices?!).

This is in Denmark.

I can live with this if every piece is flawless, but they are not these days

Having just received the Ringwraith and Isaac Clarke on his way this is getting out of my price range (That's 3 fedex bills this month).

Seriously thinking of cancelling everything but Batman... this is pissing me off.

I payed shipping, but on the fedex bill there's also some transport price included... i don't understand these numbers. am I paying shipping twice or how the hell do they come up with these outrageous prices.

This is not fun anymore.

I think I've reached my limit. This is getting out of hand.

i ordered pred, isaac and ringwraith last fall. Had i known they come with such short intervals i would have cancelled.
I started collecting last year after a long pause and the prices have caught me a little by surprise, so I'm gonna collect similar to what you write. Only top items and I will MOST definetaly check the boards for info. I cannot afford to spend money on so-so items.

to be fair, shipping costs aren't taxes, so your "tax on a tax" is incorrect.

But yes, unfortunately you have to pay customcharges on the whole amount paid for the goods, so that includes shippingcosts.

Every time I see threads like this it boggles my mind how anyone can afford this hobby ooutside the U.S. Don't get me wrong, I feel for you guys. Knowing my budget there is absolutely no way I'f be collecting.

wow for Dutch 524.00? Wow now that is crazy. I'm so glad you can deal with those prices better then me. I could not afford this hobby at those prices. I would hate to see the 600.00 to 800.00 statues...

Denmark is a very expensive country all around. Scandinavia in general I think. Everything is 'free' though, so all in all it evens out i guess. Only thing we pay for are the dentist. It's just buying stuff out of the EU borders that suck the life out of us (I see many here have my exact problem).

There are EU sellers, but if you want Exclusive items from Sideshow (or eFX etc.) you need to go through this... But inside EU is ok, no customs, and sometimes you can get items that cannot be obtained internationally (like my deact. Sterling Stormtrooper blaster conversion)

Of course they are not a real "tax", it was just a saying, but still you have to pay tax not just on the product itself, but on the shipping cost too.

Fedex/UPS have what they call "storage fees" which is higher than the shipping cost. These courier are thieves plain and simple. They trick the manufacturer into thinking that they have the lowest rates but then they screw the international customer with so called "fees" upon delivery. Sideshow doesn't care as long as they make the sale. Of course we will no longer buy.

USPS or nothing for me.

just got my isaac too. Lots of issues with that one too. 3 statues in a row with issues and those prices. This is really getting annoying. I'm gonna return 2 of them, but I guess all the custom/fedex money is lost.

Thank F@#$ I live in Australia. Here we just pay the cost of the statue plus shipping, that is all.
The only time we have to pay tax is when the item you are
importing costs over $1000. Then you would pay 10% of the cost
of the item. But very, very rarly would I buy something that exceds
$1000.
