I just saw that exact figure at Things From Another World on Universal City Walk at Universal Studios Hollywood myself yesterday. Yes, it's overprice, but not by much considering what it is. EVerything in that store is overpriced. My borther and I have always called it Things From An Overpriced World.

I have the Sideshow version which I look at daily, and after seeing this thing in the store yesterday, I have to say it sucks, people. The paint aps suck, the sculpt is off, especially in the face, and the pose is lame. And what is with that tiny spinal column. That's supposed to be human, but if there is a human wearing that Predator costume, as there was in the movie, it's way too small. The spine is the right size on the Sideshow version. And the SS Exclusive version can wear his mask. Cinemaquette sucks in my honest and very screen accuracy anal opinion.

And, no, they didn't have the Endo there, just those two.

Please put down the crack pipe. You are definately on something if you say the CM sucks. I guess if you like the puny, leaning tower of Pisa Predator, kudos for you, but to say the CM sucks...

well lets just say any comments you make from this point forward will be taken with a grain of salt....

Grain of salt...Whatever. Yeah, I'm talking out of my @$$. I think the proportions and head sculpt are more accurate on the SS, but the paint apps suck on both. You're right about the Pisa pose though. Total crap.

Well for instance: BBTS sells the CM Pred statue for $1,999.99 (Not sure how much the tax is, if any!?)

I believe BBTS only charges tax for Minnesota residents. This is not a minor consideration, since buying something in person in a store means that you'll be paying whatever the local tax rate is. For me it would be another 7.5% or so, or around $180 on a $2,400 purchase.

and with 3 - 7 day UPS shipping it's another $94.69. So bare minimum $2,094.68 and the fastest you could get it through shipping would be next day and with BBTS that would be an additional $617.99.

OK... I'm not sure that the next day quote is really relevant since most people buying online are more than willing to wait a few days to save money. But I understand that you get instant gratification at a store.

But if you go into a store..

1. You get it right then and there. No waiting for days.
2. You can look at it in-store or at least ask to.
3. If there's a problem it's as simple as returning to the store as opposed to having to ship it.
4. No worry about shipping damage.

If you're already dropping like 2 grand I would think a few extra hundred to ensure you get what you're paying for + piece of mind would be worth it. I'd be more comfortable spending money like that in-store than I would be for something online, or through a catalog etc.
If you can actually look at the item before you buy it (or at least inspect it after purchase and before going home), then getting it in the store might make some sense. And it is true that returning something like this might be a bit easier than shipping it back, but you'd still have to box it all up and put it in the car, so I'm not sure it's a big difference.

If you have a local store that you like, it might be worth paying extra to support them. But generally speaking I feel that if you buy from a good online store (and BBTS is one of the very best) there is no reason to pay hundreds of dollars extra to get something in a store. I've had nothing but good experiences with BBTS customer service.

And unfortunately I don't really have any choice but to buy online since we don't have any places nearby that handle high-end collectibles.
