That does sound like a ****ty idea, and the people commenting are just as ****ty. Why can't they all just cease to exist?:lol

Why bother? It's A Wonderful Life is a movie people only throw on in the background while they cook their Christmas dinner, that's the only relevance it still has in modern culture.

I don't know about that.

Indeed. The moral core of the movie is pretty much the core of contemporary American ethics.

I wanted to reply earlier but didn't get time as I'm stuck at work, but glad others beat me to it.

I think the story and message of the movie is timeless. The idea of somebody having a really bad day, feeling worthless and like they can't go on, and then being shown how important they are. Being reassured that they do make a difference and that they matter, is frankly a brilliant sentiment and one that has been missing from cinema for a long long time. It gives a great sense of self worth.

There's a reason it's a classic.

I don't disagree with any of that, and I never said it wasn't a classic, but I still say the movie is little more than a seasonal distraction for most people these days and a sequel would generate very little interest.

A sequel has to be the most insipid idea Hollywood has had in a long time. And as far as Christmas movies go, the last 30 years of Hollywood's contributions have been pretty goddamned insipid. They've outdone themselves this time.

Just checked the link and it sounds like the producers for this didn't do their homework. Apparently the rights are hopelessly tied-up, so that a sequel is virtually impossible. :yess:

Don't worry, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE sequel not gonna happen. Rights hopelessly tangled, as those behind 1980s Broadway musical discovered.

WONDERFUL LIFE sequel producer "checked on the rights, which were in the public domain,'' per @THR. Guessed nobody asked Paramount.

I would watch a movie dictating how life would've been worse without Hitler, before I'd ever watch The Christmas Shoes ever again.

Holy hell. That's some sentimental garbage to the highest degree.
