Well guys, I use to play with them when I was a kid, and now I wanna play with them as my 24 year old (still a kid) self. I've grabbed the Revoltech stuff, but now I wanna get into the regular Transformers like Takara and Hasbro stuff.

In terms of the cartoon/comic classic style, what toys do you guys recommend? I really like the Masterpiece ones, and the Re-Issues are nice too, as well as the "Classics" that are out/coming out these days. What should I buy to both play with and pose?

Thanks much guys. All these collection pics have inspired me to go ahead and get my act together, and grab some sick Transformer stuff!:D

bbts.com has a lot of MIB, and a few MISB G1 Transformers.

Personally I collect original G1 Transformers usually in MIB to MISB shape. I have neglected my Transformers collection to a degree in favour of game worn sports jersey collecting and picking up the odd Premium Format piece here or there.

Anyway I am looking into getting a few Diaclone figures. Pre-Transformers! :)

But yeah for the newer lines can't go wrong with the Takara reissue line, Alternater/Binaltech (same as Alternater line but with die-cast parts and 30 bucks more), and the best Transformers line to date, the Masterpiece line!

I definitely need to start posting pictures of my collection on here.

Eli, where do you go for authentic sports jerseys? I dont even bother with Ebay as 99% of them are fakes.

regarding collecting Transformers; for me i want everything to be from the same line and preferably the same scale so i'm only getting the masterpiece ones right now....although the star scream and i assume sky warp, aren't in scale which really bothers me.

here's a good site with most everything explained:

From the team's and the league. Gotta go official. Meigray is the leader for game worn hockey jerseys anyway. They have NBA stuff on there as well.

I never buy anything from eBay, unless it's auctions through the official websites of the teams or leagues.

Transformers must be a guy thing.....I just can't get into them no matter how hard I may try. :( :( :( :(

No Jen, it's a childhood thing. I was a wee lad when I first saw and fell in love with those lovable robots. Brings back so many fond memories. :monkey2

Well considering I'm 10+ years older than you, I was probably "too mature" for cartoons and into things like the John Hughes movies, learning to drive and stealing wine coolers. :lol :lol :lol :lol

You are not 10 years older than me!!

I'm 31 and I LOVE Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club!! :D

But, Transformers Rule!!! :rock

I recommend them all. :lol

I'm such a TF mark that I love them all.:rotfl

If you are a G1 fan then the Classics line is the way to go. They aren't very expensive and are great figures. The problem with them is that it looks like Hasbro has already abandoned the line. With that pile of crap called "Michael Bay's Transformers" coming out this summer, all of the toys will be movie based. The classic line is officially "on hold" so that kids won't confuse the Classics line with the movie line.

At least I'll be able to get the rest of the Jets at Botcon. :rock :rock

The TAKARA reissues are great if you can afford them. The Toys 'R Us reissues are OK but Hasbro had to make a few subtle changes due to new child safety laws that have been written since the original G1 toys came out.

When I was a kid we had Micronauts and Shogun Warriors. Transformers came out when I was in junior high.

Prime is the greatest hero of my generation. No other hero class character can hold a candle to Prime, IMHO!!

Prime is and was better than them all!!!

I'm also 31 and I couldn't have said this better than if it came out of my own mouth.
