What happened to all the field assessments from Special Forces?! That's what I'd like to know. They're even being forced to use the ACUs at the SF school in Panama... :monkey4

Prob. sitting in a file cabinet somewhere until they can find a cheaper way to accomplish the reports finding. Army Spec Op units, from my understanding, gave full approval to the HK and use it as standard issue. It baffles me that we couldnt get the better, lighter, more durable weapon in the infantry's hands.

Actually, that was rescinded. Under heavy fire, especially with the "LMG" variant, the polymer bodies started failing. I would imagine that, and the overall cost of switching to the proprietary bolt-ons were enough incentive to nix the XM8. I'm actually glad they canceled it vs. make our troops work with melting guns on the front lines.

Interesting, i was unaware of that. My memory is a little cloudy, but i ran into a Spec Ops unit once and they had a different load out then us. I just assumed it was the HK, but we all know about assumptions lol.

It could've been the SCAR (though the MK16 uses standard 5.56 mags)? The MK16 and MK17 were being tested as well. MK16's been canceled because it doesn't really improve upon the M16, but the Marines are keeping the MK17 for the 7.62.

I think it was the SCAR actually. We were all doorkicking and they ran in our house. They were looking for a high priority target and i remember my buddy saying that their are some mother____ers comin in the door with space guns lol. We only had about 60 seconds of contact, but all i thought was, damn that is a sweet looking rifle.

This was in 09 so i am going to say with certainty it was the scar.

Yeah. The shine wore off that penny reeeeeeeeeeeal quick. :lol It really didn't add much to anything. The colapsable stock only gives you three inches either way or folded for no stock and all the rail on it is "meh." Doubly so if you're not a gear whore with accessories. The barrels swap out quickly for full length or chopped and there's a built in cheek rest. But other than that, it's just a glorified M4 w/rails. IMO, the only benefit it offered was ambi nature of it but lefties still need to be careful as the brass only pops out the right side of the receiver.

Yeah, we'll get new production pics of Flint tonight. If that's all, hopefully we get to see his beret less portrait.

Also, I know you two totally didn't mean anything about it, but "spook" use to be a derogatory term for those of African descent.

And it has been used as slang for ghosts and spies as well.
