what if it were SS's second version of Snake Eyes???

would be even better

Destro is scheduled for a late 2011/early 2012 reveal....IG Destro as SDCC? very possible

No heavy hitter will be an SDCC exclusive. Although V1 Snake Eyes will be the second Snake Eyes figure SS has done, he's different enough from V2 to warrant a regular release.

Look at the previous SDCC Exclusive Joe figure: Crimson Cobra Commander. Just the Cobra Commander with a color swap. Most likely it will be a black ninja.

Makes perfect sense that the SDCC exclusive would be a Black Ninja...something easy enough to put together in time, but different enough to warrant the Exclusive distinction. I would probably be up for a Black Ninja to go with the Red Ninja since it was so well done.

I mentioned in the Star Wars section that I just ain't seeing any Star Wars nor GI Joe 1:6 scale stuff in those silhouettes.

If the silhouette is indeed a Joe, it would most likely be a variant. I think Josh made a point back when CCC came out and debated to no end. The a variant is perfect for the con since its not a "must have" figure and not everyone will be attending.

Well by the sword it does look like it will be a ninja of some type. Ninja Viper would be a repainted Storm Shadow, but the image looks like it has the Red Ninja headwraps. Could be a mix of the two.

Though a toy-accurate Ninja Viper would be a repainted Storm Shadow (as the mail-in was just a blue Storm Shadow), even Hasbro took liberties with their 25th Anniversary version:

Ninja Ku, similarly, was originally a Storm Shadow repaint. Whoever the character is, if it is a ninja, seems to using the red ninja's head wrap. Meaning the only real vintage toy that would make sense if they are going for toy accuracy would be Storm Shadow V.2 (not counting any of those lame Ninja Force guys).

You didn't see the Phase I helmet fin and clone rifle?

I see the shape...it does not hit me as being 1:6 scale. As I mentioned in the SW section, the clone silhouette just looks too much like the pose on the Phase I Clone PF and is making me thing "repaint". It does make no sense to repaint that clone and have a ranked clone and a plain white one in the exact same pose and with the same base...so I hope that indicates that I am wrong.

And the "Ninja" (if that is what it is) does not strike me as being 1:6 scale as the apparent (edit 2 - pose) just says "PF" to me more than it does 1:6. I hope I am wrong. But the way the straps on the head of the "Ninja" appear to be blowing in the breeze looks more like a dynamically posed PF to me than a 1:6 scale figure unless they are showing us that they are putting wires in them, now.

Edit - I don't know...looking at it again...I can maybe see that the straps on nthe "Ninja" could just be laying imperfectly as would be normal on a 1:6 scale figure.

again...I hope I am wrong. And I really don't care what characters they are as long as they are as awesome as the figures in these two lines have been lately!

In a new twist on the whole mess...I just looked again and noticed no bases on the two standing figures. I just jumped onto the 1:6 wagon.

Life is good.

You probably won't see a PF as a con Exclusive from Sideshow ever again, much less 2 at the same show.

:exactly:

SDCC Exclusives are meant to be easier to carry (since a lot of them are picked up by attendees). Lugging around a 1/4 scale PF is not easy.

I really think it's a Black Ninja variant. The last Joe SDCC Exclusive was Crimson Cobra Commander...what, two years ago? Joe fans are due...and it would make sense to continue the Joe momentum that Sideshow has given us in the first quarter of 2011 already. It feels like the year of Joe for Sideshow.

On an unrelated note (sort of), it feels weird that we're getting word of SDCC Con Exclusives already. I realize that it's April already and SDCC 2011 is only a few months away, but I'm used to SS's showing at Toyfair at the beginning of the year. Since SS skipped Toyfair this year, it just feels weird.

Yup, after the Luke PF in what 05 or 06 I doubt they ever do a PF again. Its way too much of a pain in the ass for them to have to worry about shipping them during SDCC or for folks to try and lug them around that place. Trust me that was no fun.
