Lerath, I see where you're coming from and thats great and all, but honestly, the thread title is Its time for the next Joe. People are going to vent their frustrations in here until the next preview drops. You are right though, me trying to make it into a pissing match because I felt criticized doesn't get the discussion going anywhere either.

I know people have done the math, yadda, yadda, and say the release timings are pretty spot on, but when you see all the content coming out it does make the Joe line seem a little light at the moment unless you're a collector of the HT movie series as well, which I'm not.

Maybe I should just concentrate on my custom Joes and it wouldn't be so frustrating, I've had a mostly naked Airborne on my desk for quite a long time. :lol

I'd also like to see Airborne, once you get him done.

I also need to find myself a body for my Cobra Shock Trooper.

Body, Cobra sniper Head, and some Boots are all I need.

Gave up on Finding a Taser for him.

LOL at "facts". What people do are facts, not what they say.

The facts are that Sideshow is content selling Hot Toys figures rather than their own. As far as preorders or worse, rumors about future releases are not action I value. They can make a list 50 figures deep, it means NOTHING.

I value getting figures in the mail and being able to enjoy them in hand. All else is just blah blah blah that I can care less about.

Soo.. it's not a fact that sideshow said that the line was going to slow down it's releases?

and it's not a fact that the line did slow down, just as sideshow said it would?

Cause I'm pretty sure those are facts. They did in fact happen.

YES, I get that sideshow dosn't have the Best track record when it comes to their 1/6th lines other than Star Wars.
However, Even Star Wars is expierencing a slow down, but i'm pretty sure it's not going anywhere.
Yes, things take longer to sell out, still not an indication they're ending things. The econmy is ****ty, which means luxuary items get purchased less and less.

Personaly, my bigger concern with the line seeing a possible cancelation stems more from rising prices, followed by people buying less of what They DO put out than it does a lack of speedy releases flodding the market.
And even then, it's a minor concern... for now.

If we go more than 3 years without seeing a new product even in development, and they've still not changed their story ( like Indy) THEN, I'll concede to your point, that we're being strung along.

Beyond that though, I do get what you're saying, and I get the concern. :peace

Just because they said they'd slow down and then they did slow down doesn't mean we need to be happy about them slowing down, or be content with a bunch of conjecture about future releases that may come, but not for at least 12 months if you account for the long waits on delivery.

For me, what you fear has already occurred. The rising prices and increased wait time has already put this line on life support. Its just barely breathing and barely breathing isn't good enough for me to remain interested.

If you have patience to wait for product for 3 years, more power to you...that's a pretty ridiculous wait, IMO.

Donno, I've always been a relatively patient person, just my nature. And ofcorse you by no means need to be happy about it :D It simply is. I guess waiting for sideshow to move to the Pro body when I first jumped into this hobby has made me accustomed to waiting on them in general.

I don't think that the line is slowing down...Snake Eyes w Timber came out in Jan, and we are getting Bludd in the summer...Baroness is in the works just proving to be a little difficult...and Alex from SS said that 3 more are coming, most likely one for SDCC and two in the last part of this year.

Sideshow has a definite way of slowing things down and they certainly mean it when they said so...

Starwars 1/6 has just picked up again (take notice to the reveals and pre-orders, plus Vader coming in a few weeks for pre-order)

G.I Joe is Rich in characters and they are only to be wasted if Sideshow does not get on the ball soon. They probably have too many licenses on their plate and not enough staff to make things happen like they should.I think that also doesn't help your business but then only frustrates your fans by slowing things down...

I guess I am just tired of the talk (and interviews of empty promises) and Sideshow needs to start taking action as action speaks louder than words

It is all talk right now. The only pre-order from figures showed last year is Bludd. Baroness has been in the works for almost year now since the viewing before SDCC. The facebook pics of some black hands and what looks like crome CC.. and the word that 3 more are on the way. Like most have said I will believe it when I see it.

With that all being said.

I would love to have the next 3 on the way be any of these
Destro
Scrap Iron
Alpine
Snow Job
BBQ
any of the Dredknocs
Lady Jay
Scarlett

I actually don't care who the next 3 are...they will be fantastic!

Sideshow has historically let lines die by waiting too long between releases and losing collector interest. Lord of the Rings anyone?

Ehhh... LOTR was killed by a combination of things.

WAY too lng between actual releases ( more than a year)
Craptastic QC
Lack of villians
Faramir
Weird character choices ( see faramir)
Drop-off in popularity due to all of the above, and the movies fading from public memory.

And while yes, the time between releases was a factor ( it even made my list) the line had A GREAT DEAL of other issues as well.

LOTR is also VERY VERY Niche. Yes, it has many long-term fans, but t's not exaclty "pop culture" in a way that can sustain a long-term market as far as merchandise goes.

Joe, in particular, has a great deal of staying power, as it's a property tha was Built AROUND the concept of materialisim, and a toy line first. everything else came after.

don't get me wrong. the line could very eaisly go the way of LOTR, given enough time floundering. But I don't think we're there yet.
