:lol Well, that's cool.

But surely you agree that a new 12" figure announcement (or even the first Vs. Diorama) would generate some more excitement around here.

I think that while the dust is settling over the Sniper (pro/con - he's still a Joe announcement), we're all content refutzing Storm Shadow and getting him perfect. I'd worry more if a day goes by and there isn't a Joe thread bumped.

My top five list of least likely JOEs (not COBRA) who'll be the next JOE figure announced.

1. Chuckles
2. BBQ
3. Mutt & Junkyard
4. Leatherneck
5. Torpedo

:D

Good ole Crossfire!!! :rock

That's a possibility. They'd do Mutt with the exclusive being a muzzle and sell a polystone under-scaled Junkyard separately for $130 with a chunk of sidewalk and fire hydrant. :p

I really don't see us getting Gung-Ho, at least not the '83 version unless there's a new pair of beefy arms in the works. I honestly would not buy a Dress Marine version, he'd definitely be the German Indy of this line. Just too easy to kitbash.

Very nice :rock

He does look pretty sweet! Possibly the best yet with all that gear and accessories. I just really hope they go put a modern twist on him and give him digital camo or even the black/grey/white urban stuff. FF should just be two-tone grey.

I have to agree. Let's see the Fly already!!!

If the production model follows those sketches then the backpack is totally wrong and missing the tool box and the SMG doesn't have the correct flash muzzle.

The SMG is one of their modern updates just like Duke's rifle and the Trooper's AK-74u. Not a fan of the backpack, but that exclusive Bombcase is pretty neat looking from what I can see.

So? These were never detail for detail representations of the original RAH figures...

So the Eddie Bauer backpack and SMG is wrong. They should have at the very least made the backpack closer to the original figure which was one of the defining characteristics of the original Firefly figure. He's a saboteur not a backpacker.

Agreed.

The goal and intent of the 1:6 figures were never a detail for detail representation of their 3.75" counter-parts, but a modern interpretation "take" of the figure. If it was a detail for detail interpretation then the upcoming DUKE figure have the wrong rifle and the SNAKE EYES figure was "off" as well.

And please please please . . . don't even go in the direction of GI JOE: ROC because that is a totally different issue all together.

As an officer in the military myself, I can tell you that it looks a LOT like the combat packs soldiers are wearing these days.

Since these figures are updated in terms of gear and weapons, Firefly would be a lot more likely to wear something like that than the old fashioned frame he had back in '84.

Don't get me wrong, I see your point. When it comes to the 25th Anniversary figures, for example, I'm a stickler for detail and accuracy to the RAH version, but since Sideshow hasn't set out to do that (evident from the very first figure), why start now? They seem to have gotten the balance between iconic '80s character look and modern equipment that Hasbro never seemed to get with its 3 3/4" figures (until Resolute, maybe...).

Look who you're arguing with...:horse There are far too many syllables in your post for him to comprehend. :lol

I'll admit I would've loved to have an original looking backpack and that it's as essential to FF as Stormy's quiver/sheathes combo. However I'm not that worried about it. I still think it would be somewhat easy to piece together using styrene and other plastic bits. Hell, Monkey Depot has 1/6 tools.
