I prefer Sideshow's interpretation. I am really glad that I have been able to move beyond the content of a comic book that I read 25 years ago.

Sideshow's are definitely the best interpretations I have seen so far. But I am sure that if they or someone else like Hot Toys does them 20 years from now, they will have been improved again.

I'll admit I would've loved to have an original looking backpack and that it's as essential to FF as Stormy's quiver/sheathes combo. However I'm not that worried about it. I still think it would be somewhat easy to piece together using styrene and other plastic bits. Hell, Monkey Depot has 1/6 tools.

You know, it would be cool since Sideshow's updating his backpack, if they updated his vest too, from the crossed bandoleers to one of the dropdown medic MOLLE vests to keep all his tools in.

It is possible to update stuff without ruining it. RoC was a debacle from the very beginning and everyone knew it would be. Some of the IDW stuff is absolutely fantantastic and updated at the same time. The origins comic might be my favorite Joe story ever.

ROC was caca.... "update" doesn't need to mean "update to ROC"... Just modernize a bit and stay true to the flavor of the originals... as they have.

But arent the "updates" based on the GI Joe Reborn comics? Which no one likes (At least CC and SE seem to be).

Those two are definitely based off covers from that series but the rest since (not counting caca Commander and the Sniper) have been pretty close to the classic figures. Firefly is along those lines as well.

He does look pretty sweet! Possibly the best yet with all that gear and accessories. I just really hope they go put a modern twist on him and give him digital camo or even the black/grey/white urban stuff. FF should just be two-tone grey.

I don't care if they modernize some of the accessories as long as they include vintage ones as well. That way I can continue to leave the updated junk in the box and display the figures properly.

Duke, SS, and the Cobra Officer are the best figures of the line due to their adherence to their classic looks. I'm not a fan of the changes to Firefly's design, but he still looks pretty cool.
