For me it doesn't look anything like Viggo !. But i suppose it depends on what Sideshow are doing. Are they basing their sculpt on the film Strider/Aragorn, in which case then they are not even close or is this their own interpretation of the character ?.
For a spot on likeness of Viggo then i have to say that Captain Sack's thumbnails with the unpainted Viggo heads is untouched. Especially looking at the left hand one.For me it's an exact likeness. The nose, lips chin...everything.
Look at any of the interviews with Viggo where he is clean shaven on any of the Extended dvd's and you have to admit the likeness is uncanny !.
Some long hair and some stubble/beard and hey presto !!.

Then Sideshow have surely shot themselves in the foot with this !.
If Hot Toys can get a likeness that good with their Viggo then surely a big company like Sideshow could of done just as good a job !.
I'm not saying that i hate it ( i'm a sucker for anything LOTR ) but yet another Strider/Aragorn let down.

I would have prefered a more determined Uruk killing expression, to me he looks like he'd drop his sword and run at the sight of battle.

I think SSC has done a good job on Aragorn. I'm not to unsatisfied with the likeness. It's not a 100% Viggo, and it's good that way. I want Aragorn, not Viggo Mortensen in the role of Aragorn. But since I'm more after the "creatures" of Middle Earth, I don't care to much about the likeness of the LOTR actors. Bring on the monsters, Sideshow!

I think its a good representation of Aragorn from the books maybe not so much the movies. In any case I like the way they have done the beard, the outlines in the face, and the hair. Have to wait to see more pics of this one.

Of course it's based on the movies, why else would SS have to buy the license from New Line??

After talking to some SSC people the figure is better then the pics show. They have seen it live and the likeness was much better then shown. Once again wait till you see it or you get other pictures before judgement.

Well, if we followed that policy, we wouldn't have 18 pages of discussion here. We'd all be waiting for more pictures, or for the figure in person before we posted anything.

All I can go by is what I'm given, and in this case I've got one picture. And from that picture... the likeness sucks(IMO). If, in 2weeks or whatever timeframe, I see more pics, and they look better, I'll gladly post my revised opinion, but for now, I opine on the info I'm given
And the info I have, tells me the likeness sucks.

Have to admit that after having looked again at the SideshowWeta homepage i have found that he is growing on me the more i look at the picture of the whole figure instead of just concentrating on the close up pic of the head.
If there was a bigger and better photo of the figure from head to toe i'm sure it could sway a lot more people into buying.

I don't think either is really close....But, even Stevie Wonder could see the NECA one is closer to Viggos likeness.....And what is it with people saying, "It depends on which angle you view it at, to get the likeness of Viggo"....It should look like Viggo, no matter WHAT angle you look at it from...
