Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I have just one question...Is rogerbee's avatar supposed to be Dominic Purcell? I always thought it was the BBI figure that is supposed to resemble Robert DeNiro.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

LOL It's Lucifer!

A custom Connery can't be entirely ruled out, it's just a case of finding someone willing to do it.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

He escaped me for years too, then I finally got him.

Hopefully, when Collectable Kitbash get their stock of DID in I'll finally have a Bond I want too.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I've just received the MI6 Agent "Jack" figure from DID. I have to say, I'm very impressed by it. The head sculpt looks a lot better in person and I think its the best unofficial sculpt of Daniel Craig so far.

I did not like the black tux when it was first announced by DID, so I was planning of changing it out with the midnight navy tux from Very Cool. But after looking and getting a feel of the tux in person, and after careful consideration, I think the quality and built of the tux on this DID figure is very nicely done and of better quality and cut than the one from Very Cool. So I won't be swapping the tux just yet. I just wish it was midnight navy though. But its still classy to have him in a standard black jacket tux.

I really like the simplicity of the all black packaging with the silver glossy MI6 logo. Very neatly done and finished off brilliantly. No extravagant graphics necessary. The packaging blends perfectly with the class and formal look of the figure. Accessory wise, it comes with Bond's trusty Walther PPK, an extra clip and a silencer. Not complaining about the accessory since its probably the only thing Bond would ever need other than his wristwatch and a beautiful woman by his side. Plus having few accessories helps keeps the cost of the figure low I suppose. Oh and some extra pair of hands for the never ending poses you can have this figure to do.

Overall, as a Bond fan, I'm very impressed by this figure and its overall look. Its definitely a good representation of Daniel Craig as James Bond. Enjoy the photos....

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Your photos all seem to have some serious perspective and lens distortion - the shape of the head looks different in many of the shots. Unfortunately the images don't really convey what you've described in text.

Good move passing on the Very Cool tux, I don't think it's of a quality that's comparable to the DID.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I don't own any outfits produced by VERYCOOL TOYS . . . yet, but my gut hunch tells me that acquiring to replace the DID tuxedo is redundant.

I think that when the figure hits stateside, previously released and so far readily available mens suit sets from a variety of companies will be scarfed up by collectors to different version of Craig as Bond from Casino Royale to Quantum of Solace and Skyfall can be replicated.

Now is the time to start finding & stocking up on good 1:6 mens suit sets.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Good looking figure and great pics. I doubt our pics will be all that different when the rest of us get to complete our Bonds.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Thanks guys! It actually looks better than I had expected it to be as I had read some skeptical remarks over the head sculpt on the final product as it had differed with the prototype images that DID had provided earlier on... As evident through my photos, it actually looks pretty good. Even better in person.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The DID seems to suffer the same problem as many of the Craig sculpts. Too narrow from side to side and too stretched from top to bottom. The features also fill up too much of the surface area of the face. Having talked with several 2D and 3D portrait artist over the years it seems that balancing the size and shapes of the features in relation to the overall shape and proportions of the head is the real challenge of creating an accurate likeness. When you can tell a sculpt is suppose to be Craig but it doesn't look exactly like him, it is because the sculptor couldn't put the combination together in the right order. I don't buy the excuse that this sculpt isn't dead on because they wanted to avoid a cease and desist. The gun, clothing and packaging make it so obvious that it is suppose to be a Bond figure that they would get slapped with a C & D even if the sculpt looked like Meryl Streep.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Has any one posted pics of the DID gangster Johnny . That is a real good set. I picked mines up a couple weeks ago. If only they did the same work on the m16 agent. Good sculpt and cool accessories the violin case is metal with working clasp .

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Even at the age of 83, if Sean Connery came out of retirement to play Bond one more time, I would stand in line to see it.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I think they buggered up which could be the freshest take on Bond in 50 years with Skyfall. Even though Bond is not about continuity, Skyfall attempted to both create and recreate continuity with the whole M thing, new MI6 offices etc. the whole thing was just bizarre to me.

And the Bond home in Skyfall and the family history ties to Scotland, while true to the book I didn't want them to do that with Craig.

What I wanted for them to do was bring back Sean Connery and Daniel Craig in one movie and explain that Sean was the true James Bomd and when he retired the 007 agent rank and the mantle James Bond became a code name that a worthy agent had to assume. This would also explain why Dench's M was largely approving of Brosnen but not of Craig and why she lobbied for his reinstatement in Skyfall to save face for choosing a sub par candidate for the mantle of James Bond.

Suddenly you have 50 years of continuity that makes perfect sense in one fell swoop and a whole wealth of interesting possibilities with former Bond actors to return (I guess Felix and money penny might not make sense, but Q still would)
