Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yeah even his supposed worst, Die Another Day, isn't nearly as bad as some of the crappy Bond films of the 70s in my book. And in fact I actually really like the first 1/2 or so (before it suddenly turns into a cheesy CG cartoon for some reason).

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm biased by the fact that Brosnan was my kid-growing-up Bond, but I thought he was a good Bond in some not-so-great films, if that makes sense. Honestly, he's really the only one that you can't peg down as trying to add too much of a change into the role...Dalton was the tough one, Connery was the smarmy one, Moore was the ahem..."funny" one (though I don't find him all that funny!), and Craig is the stripped down fighter. Brosnan was just...Bond.

And while I like GoldenEye, I think there's some nuggets of good stories in TND and TWINE - the idea of controlling the news in the information age is interesting, and the idea of a Bond girl becoming a baddy due to Stockholm syndrome still holds up. They were just bogged down by the Bond "formula" of how action sequences need to be played out, girls need to be introduced, villains need to act, etc. Once they opened up the reins for Craig it shows.

Back to the figures, while I have the utmost respect for bbkill - His Connery, Craig, and Ford are still all favorites of mine - Inigou's Brosnan was just stronger in my opinion. It doesn't hurt that it leans a bit younger.

BTW, I still have a couple unpainted Inigou Brosnan heads lying around if anyone wants to PM me.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm really quite surprised by all the Brosnan hate around here! He may not of had the most critically successful movies out of all the Bond actors, but he definitely had more then one good film. I really enjoyed Goldeneye and TWINE

Definitely looking forward to checking out those pics! I'm putting together a Skyfall Bond as well, but I'll probably wait to upload pictures until I can grab a more suitable head sculpt.
thanks mate!

Which dc sculpt would you want?

Brosnan is equal to Daniel Craig as my favourite bond. Goldeneye, tomorrow never dies and the world is not enough are great films in my book. He was a great bond in 1 bad film for me.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Bout me not enjoying the Brosnan films..he was the first Bond I saw in theaters back in November 95

OK... but you don't need to stick up for heavily-hairsprayed Brosnan on my account. :D

Unfortunately I came of age with 80's Moore in the theater so I have Clowns, Gorrilla costumes and Leisure suits to deal with.

The Moore films hold a place in my heart because my Dad always watched(his favorite Bond actor) them Jake and I were kids. So, Roger was actually the first Bond films I remember seeing

I'm really keeping a close eye on both the Modern Life sculpt and bbkill's newest Craig sculpt. Both sculpts really look like they have fantastic likenesses, but I really need to see more pictures of them before deciding.

My favorite Bond is definitely Connery, but Brosnan Craig and Moore are high up on my list as well. I really do like all of the actors who have played Bond. I think that they all brought something different to the role and I've never seen a Bond film that I've genuinely hated. Sure, some aren't as good as others, but I don't think any of them have been awful. This could just be my love of the character speaking though. :lol

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I really liked that Modern Life sculpt originally, but now I'm not so sure. It's beautifully painted of course, but somehow seems a bit too idealized for Craig.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Both good choices! Though I feel bbkills new one is based on dc in casino royale! But I'm sure it would look good. I'm eager to see that one myself. I'd definitely have a casino royale bash on the shelf as well as skyfall and goldeneye.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Idk if anyone on here follows NECA's Twitter. But Randy just said they may get the James Bond license. Nothing is definite however.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

There's a clear lack of 007 toys on the market at the moment, but then NECA doesn't produce high-end 1/6 figures, so it's not something I'd be interested in. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'd definitely be interested in anything NECA. But what pleases me most about that potential news is that the license may be up for grabs by other companies and this may lead to official 1:6 figures...finally. I know Barbara broccoli has put a stop to figures in the past but maybe that's changed. Maybe she's seen the incredible work hot toys do

When NECA acquire a license, hot toys and other companies usually acquire it at the same time too. Commando. Batman 89. Batman 66 etc.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'd hate to see this license in Hot Toys hands. I don't think they'd do that great a job. I'd much rather it go to a hungrier company.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It'd be interesting to see licensed Bond figures for the sculpts alone but, with Bond the clothes make the man, so I have a feeling the tailoring might be a let down on tuxedo or suit versions. I'd love to see them do updated Moonraker Moore in space suit or wetsuit Connery in this case.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I would have to agree that I would prefer the Bond license go to a company besides Hot Toys. I doubt that Hot Toys would even focus on the older films if they acquired the license. I'm also interested in what NECA would do with the license. I think that their 1/4 scale figures in particular have been very impressive lately.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

If HT would do it right and give it their full attention and their best artists, I think it would be phenomenal. But since that's probably not the way it would actually go, I'd have to agree it would be better for some other company to make them instead.
