Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

In Cap's first post, where we see the flopped pic next to a pic of the real Dalton, the real eyes look to have a slight downward slant to them. If Rocco flopped his sculpt and slanted the eyes I think he'd be there. But I guess that's not to be.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It's sad that Rocco won't revisit it, but I'm still willing to give it a go painted up. No point in any more manipulations, then :(

If it looks bad in-hand I might attempt to adjust the cheeks myself. I still think that's the #1 thing throwing it off, and with a little sculpy, it might work itself out.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Things can happen during casting, some less fortuitous than others. Another thing that helps greatly with a likeness is the paint. The painter can be as talented as they like, but, they have to paint the likeness to the actor and precisely match the details of their skin or they might as well not bother.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Agreed. I've been playing with coloring the sculpt this morning in Photoshop, and the more I adjust the features that we've all discussed, it seems like the less it looks like Dalton. Again, I'm gonna give it a go and see what I think. Maybe when it's painted people will change their minds...looking forward to the challenge.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Obviously Rocco doesn't care about getting the likeness any closer...if passable is good enough for him it's blantanly obvious he only cares about $$..no wonder he's throwing up threads so quicly.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I think that your first manipulation with the cheeks was really spot on capn. If the cheeks were fuller and the hair covered the ears more, I think that would go a long way to helping people see the likeness.

Rocco believes that everyone's concerns with the sculpt will work themselves out when the sculpt is painted. That might be so, but then again it might not be.

Rocco decided to do a quick paint render to show people how the sculpt may look sculpt painted up. After seeing it I agree with thecapn the cheeks are very much sunken in:

Yup, the cheeks are a big factor. But I think Rogerbee hit on something else - the slant of the eyes.

Check this out. I did a coloring of the original render (it's not perfect :p) to add to Rocco's:

I personally think a slight eye tweek and filling in the cheeks would do the trick.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Need to say-slanted eyes is very big difference for likness.Rocco should see this picture.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Your render is excellent capn! So is your render paint job! I do think that Dalton has some rather uniquely shaped eyes so you've got a good point. The eyes need to be slightly more slanted and the cheeks fuller.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Thanks guys :) It's all in fun.

I also did this, although I think we're all on board with this one already, but if it helps anyone visualize:

I literally just grabbed the eyes and eyebrows and tilted them a little downward on the insides. That's all. I know nothing about 3D rendering, but it might not be that big a change.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Look at the corners of the eyes Monomaster. In Rocco's rendering the corners go from upwards to downwards and on Dalton's actual face they go from downwards to upwards if that helps any. :)

The Moore paint render looks great capn! It does look quite fun to do! :clap

P.S. I'd like to see Connery too!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Tis the season again, so here's my newest custom that's been 10 plus years in the making. She didn't quite turn out as I envisioned her, but I'm glad that she's finally finished. She is Tracy and I caption this figure as "James... "

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Hey guys, I didn't know there is another thread just on Bonds, thank you Owl for letting me know. I see the concerns, and I see I went to young on Dalton, I stopped the print midway, so that is cost to me. I want everyone to be happy with the sculpt, so I'll be making changes. I'm away for the holidays, so expect new photos next week. I just want to put out the best art I can. Thank you for your patience and Happy Holidays!
