Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The suit came from the Brother Production Exception (Inception) Dream Extractor figure, its perfect in my opinion (for a sort of mass produced figure). The pin striping is in scale, and the cut of the suit is decent.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

looks like a huge improvment on his his efforts! with all these countless craig heads and tuxes in the works the winning combination is bound to fall into our laps!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Yup,

What I think I'll do is get one of the others anyway and keep an eye on this and get it when he's ready. That way I've got my bases covered.

I do also have his previous one so I can practice painting it in the meantime.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

If BB's comes out anywhere near as good as the render it may well end up being definitive...!

Definitely. If the prints look like the render then we're in for a treat, it's the best sculpt I've ever seen in one of those 3d drawing programmes.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'd be so excited if he actually gets through printing this one. TBH, searching for Bond sculpts and finding his was why I joined the forum.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

That new render doesn't really look like Bond....

Not like Dalton, Moore, Connery or Niven, but it looks JUST like Craig! ;)

Does he have any paint contacts so that he might be able to offer them fully painted? I'd love to try my hand at it, but honestly I just don't have the time - knowing that I'd have to do it a few times to experiment anyway.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

He may do, I think Peteskywalker handled the WGP Indys, but he may know someone else. I'd love to get someone else to paint mine, but, they all charge more than I can afford.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Bbkills sculpt is that good that if it does become available, mine would definitely go to one of the talented painters here on the board. In fact it's so good I'd entertain the idea of a Kato suit. Imagine that for a figure.

I'm seriously floored by bbkills sculpt! And this time last week I thought nothing would beat Adams newest WIP! But this may do. Time will tell.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Don't know how excited Denny is going to be!

Them's the breaks!

The demand is there, whoever gets to the finish line fastest has the most to win, the finish line iwth the best results that is. Aside from this "private commission" nonsense, this is one we can actually get... if the print turns out Ok we are looking at our best option yet.

That is a big IF. His first head looked great in the 3D render, but the printout was lacking. Frankly any sculptor worth thier salt should have seen that and made the corrections before molding and casting. This is why I am hesitant to support anyone doing digital sculpts. If the print out is flawed a sculptor with a traditional background should be able to go back in to the printout and rework the errors. If a sculptor isn't capable of rendering the portarit in traditional mediums they are stuck with whatever the printer gives them. I'm not getting to excited about iminime doing a Craig/Bond . There are better sculpts available for most of the figures they have done so far. I thought I might finally be down for one of thier figures, but Blondie ended up looking like Hugh Jackman.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

You can never use the output of any digital printer without some rework. There isn't a printer made today that produces the quality level and smoothness that's required on this kind of product - at any price that I know of. Printing samples is cheap, mold making, casting and painting finished goods isn't, so if an artist isn't proofing their design at least a few times, you're right, we really have to question what they're doing.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I can see where digital sculpting has advantages, especially when it comes to adjusting size. If a traditional sculpt is over/undersized a sculptor is very limited in the methods available to resize finished pieces. For professional work it make sense that more figure/statue producers are moving towards digital sculpting. For customs I don't see the point. Digital renders can be adjusted to look great in 2d, but in almost every case I have seen the finished product was not as good as the digital render was perceived to be. I find it amusing how everyone gets excited when one picture of a sculpt is posted. Three dimensional objects really need to be seen from multiple angles to appreciate what was achieved. Or realize what wasn't.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The same can be said of a single photo of a traditional sculpt. ;) But these are concerns about the artist rather than the process. In the end the final product will only be reflective of the person behind it. It's not really fair to blame the technology or use it as any kind of excuse.

Let's see what we're talking about...

Long time no see guys:) Im doing good with my baby, just no time for sculpt.. so, here's a new update to this Guy..I think I have been doing more than 20 versions for him, until this a more satisfied one. No actual production date but I'm now waiting for a test print to check scale. :)

Yep, that's Craig.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Wow. If the printout turns out, I think I'm in for THAT one. Any idea how much his sculpts run?

And refresh my memory of good painters on these boards! It's been so long since I needed one. I've used Greggo in the past and love his work but I'm open to other suggestions :)

Agreed. My first thought when someone post a picture of a sculpt from only one angle is "what is off about the rest of it". I wasn't trying to single this artist out. My observations have been that its common amongest all the digital sculpts that have been offered here. They just don't look as good as traditional sculpts across the board. The one thing that most sculptors have gotten wrong about Craig is the shape of his head from the face to face angle. Impossible to tell from this one picture weither or not this sculptor was able to correct one of the major flaws on his previous attempt, the elongated face.
