:lol James Cameron thought he might have lost his crown with the dark knight so has decided to make two at the top. The man must be a genius if he can mange to do this twice. :lol

Honestly not looking to stir up s@#$ here, but is there anyone on the boards that didn't like this movie?

And for all of those who did....what was so likeable about the aliens that I'm missing?

I thought it stunk to high heaven ... but I was drowned out about 20-pages-ago.

Oh okay...thank God. I honestly thought I was going insane, or that the rest of the world had.

Sorry I missed your posts, guys.

No -- there's a significant contingent here that thought the story was a simplisitic knock off of Pocahontas and Dances with Wolves. The effects were great ... the story was painfully cliche'd and predictable.

Well the effects didn't even astound me. Some of the shots were obviously "cutting-edge"...but some of the stuff looked like a PS3 game (the "panther" thing). As for the designs of the creatures themselves...it looked like stuff Napoleon Dynamite would come up with. And the colors of the planet reminded me of Shumacer World.

Not to mention bad performances from really good actors. Needless to say, I was more than a little shocked by what I saw. Maybe he'll go through with "Battle Angel" in another 10 years to redeem himself....

I really liked it and thought the effects were great.
But I do have a gripe...

It bugged me that the military was obviously U.S.
I would have much preferred for it to have been a "World Federation" type of military.

Just my

though...

Actually, I thought the planet looked a bit like ET's planet from the old Universal Studios ride. The animals were basically a black jackal, a six legged horse, and a pterodactyl (oh ... and a big pterodactyl). Eh.

Personally, I don't get why everyones so drummed up about it.

Because that would have left some ambiguity as to whether Cameron was condemning humanity ... or just "western imperialism". Subtlety of message is not among this movie's strong points.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Guys get out of this thread until you see it. Its not so predictable that you should have everything spoiled. It is fun seeing how certain things play out. I saw it again, this time on a massive 2D screen. Still awesome and beyond epic. Saw a 12:40 pm showing and people applauded at the end. Its the real deal.

Yes it WAS predictable! Come on! If you didn't know that Jake would
Become a NAVI by the end of the movie
than I'm sorry you are a ratard. Just like rainman. :rotfl

I enjoyed the movie. I really did. However, it was nothing new. Nothing fresh and original. My idea of Fresh and new would be Gangs of New York or There will Be Blood. This was the same old Sci Fi rip off crap that they have been churning out year after year. Although the 3D was amazing! It just was an meh story that I just wanted to end.

It's funny. I don't like any of the Lord Of The Rings, Pirates Of The Carribean or Harry Potter movies but I don't sit on their forums and bag 'em out.
Probably because I have a life?:dunno
