An ebayer buyer backed out so I still have an official Fox VIP Cast Signed poster available signed by 11 cast and crew if anyone is interested. Posted in commerce

Didnt I hear something about them re-releasing Avatar this summer with the cut scenes added? Like an extra 30 min?

Watched the Blu Ray yesterday... looked great. I was concerned the movie might be a bit dull in 2D, but still looked just as good :rock

A VIP Cast poster from Avatar? …have a link to the ebay auction? :wink1:

…will be re-released on selected cinemas I guess. :)

If you think Avatar's popularity is on the wane consider this from IMDB

Avatar sold more than 6.2 million Blu-ray units, which is 31% of its disc sales (both DVD and Blu-ray). Usually Blu-ray represents only 7%-12% of all sales. To show how impressive these numbers are, The Dark Knight took 18 months to sell 2.5 million Blu-ray units.

But the Dark Knight was Blu-ray by itself and the Avatar was Blu-ray + dvd.

But the Bluray is the best looking movie I even seen. Still can't get over the quality of that disc.

Yes I did
Why does a DVD/Blu-Ray disc have an advantage over a Blu-Ray only disc? People did not buy the Blu-Ray just for the DVD that comes with it.
The DVD does not count as an extra unit.
I don't get where you are coming from with your answer :dunno

I bought the Blu-ray because it came with both. I gave the dvd to my family. And I was in the store when it first came out and people were saying how much of a great deal it was that it came with both. I know people who bought the blu-ray combo and dont even have a blu-ray player yet.

And I havent even watched the blu-ray yet.

Because millions of DVD owners who haven't yet invested in a Blu-ray player are enticed by the dual DVD/Blu-ray releases (knowing they're getting both formats, including a disc for their eventual Blu-ray player) and are buying them in droves.

DVD still has such a commanding share of the market that anytime you can cross-over you're instantly guaranteed more Blu-ray sales.

daikkenaurora & The Ween are correct... the total Blu-ray numbers are misleading, because they are lumping those in together. IMHO, dual format releases should count as a completely separate category. Because it's a separate SKU anyway.

I'm just surprised that DVD owners bought the Blu-Ray copy.
Over in the UK the Supermarkets had price war over the DVD copy with some places selling it for £6, just so people would go to their store. They do that sometimes with big blockbusters

IrishJedi hit the nail right on the head.

The same sorta thing happened with concert tickets to see Prince. People thought his latest cd was free at the concert but they found out the cd price was already included in the ticket sales. So his album sales were much more than what it should be.

Good thing none of that matters in the end because that is how they count them. So regardless of how shady or misleading it is that is what they use to count them.

It is the same thing with people complaining about 3D movie sales should be a separate count or they should do on tickets sold rather than total profit. Guess what? They don't...just have to deal. Avatar wins.

Nah, I don't subscribe to that, sorry. Math is math, and numbers don't lie... but people do.

That's just like Alabama claiming "13" National Championships in football. :lol If they counted them properly like everyone else, they'd have 9.

I am not sure how they count the DVD sales but movie wise I would disagree because that is how they count them, total sales regardless of how much they charge per ticket.

The whole hybrid DVD/Blu-ray is a bit different I guess. But if they are counting them as two per sale well then I guess it is a bit shady but technically they are selling two. Or are they doing it differently?
