I agree but you can't just disregard their opinions either. Most of them are valid. Personally I still think the movie will be fantastic. This will be my first IMAX movie that wasn't meant to be educational. :lol

Dude!! You've been missing out!
Here's a list of Hollywood movies I've seen on IMAX
Most of them were amazing to experience with the awesome sound and screen!

- Matrix Reloaded (Great!)
- Spiderman 2 (amazing!!!)
- Superman Returns (Cool tidbits in 3D)
- 300 :)rock)
- Spiderman 3 (...meh)
- Beowulf (Really good on Imax 3D)
- Dark Knight (Beautiful!!)
- Watchmen (Awesome!)
- Transformers 2 (... Great effects and sound, stupid movie)
- This is It (Beyond awesomeness!!)

I also want to check out Christmas Carol, and obviously Avatar...

So far to me, it looks like Pocahontas in space with amazing fx. Still blandish.

:lol:lol
Some people compare it to Dances with Wolves and Last Samurai,
but it's still speculation...
I'm definitely looking forward to it, but after Titanic, I'm a bit skeptical... :gun

Here is TV spot #3. This is the kids version with different music and such that is airing on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. It has a few new scenes.

Man, that makes it look worse... :horror
Terrible music and the editing makes it look like a Disney movie...

Looks like a great movie!

One question though guys, will this actually happen? Seriously this has been in the works for years now. That being said, I'll be first in line when it hits the theatres.

Erm, OK, the music just ruined this movie for me. :(

No kidding... but even the regular trailer has terrible music...
like something out of Transformers or some crap like that...

So this means it might be PG-13?...:horror

The regular movie trailer isnt even the score from the film. Its from the movie "The Island" the real score has been worked on for a couple years by James Horner and is supposed to be amazing. You can hear some tribal music from the score on the avatarmovie.com website right now.

If you visited the site before the teaser trailer was released you got to hear a small portion of the score and it was awesome. Epic and recognizable such as Star Wars or Jaws. One of those themes where you know instantly what movie it is.

We can hope that they release a directors cut that is R or close too. Im sure this will have plenty of bonus crap to milk it.

Has anyone seen screenshots of the game? avatarmoviezone.com has a lot of videos and screen shots. It reminds me of Halo/Uncharted/Gears of War/Crysis- at least the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions

I thought it was JC who said that Dances with Wolves was one of his inspirations for Avatar's storyline.

I think JC better be more worried about the writer of "Call Me Joe". I'm betting a lawsuit will be coming down the road and a fight for screen credit, kind of like Terminator.

It's funny...Before this thread, I really didn't know anything about this movie. All my opinions were based on the trailers and what I interpreted as the storyline. On others suggestions, I started googling to find out more info about the tech. That might be the worst thing I could have done because now my expectations have increased dramatically regarding the FX. I think the hype may damage this move moreso than the movie itself.

Awesome then!! I love Horner's score for Apocalypto!!
Though Titanic's was awful...

I checked the website and it does sound pretty good so far!
I'm glad they're no using the Island one... I hate Bay's movie scores, they always sound like commercials for the US Army... :lol:lol

Call me Joe has nothing to do with Avatar-the only similarity is a paraplegic and creatures on a planet. It ends there. In call me Joe some guy in a space ship uses his mind to control animals on a planet. Thats not enough to warrant sueing I dont think. Stay away from CHUD...lol. They are the ones pushing that story. However, Cameron was inspired by many older science fiction novels.

Actually, I read this on screenrant and wikipedia (not aware of chud)

https://screenrant.com/avatar-plot-james-cameron-plagiarized-poul-anderson-call-me-joe-ross-32369/

I haven't read the book so I can only see a similarity in the synopsis.

"Call Me Joe centers on a paraplegic – Ed Anglesey – who telepathically connects with an artificially created life form in order to explore a harsh planet (in this case, Jupiter). Anglesey revels in the freedom and strength of his artificial created body, battles predators on the surface of Jupiter, and gradually goes native as he spends more time connected to his artificial body."

I only mentioned this because of JC's past w/ Terminator, but certainly this can be much ado about nothing.. What I'm surprised the most by is the hype vs. haters vs. fanboyism. I only became aware of this movie with the first trailer posted here. Has this been a brewing battle for a long time? Usually, I only see this happen once a movie is out and is based on a previous franchise or medium in the past.

Audiences have become jaded and I can understand why people are saying - No biggie about Avatar.

I have had the privilege to see some films before they got out into the world. I saw them before any hype or reviews had a chance to effect how people would receive them. And two of those films I saw with small audiences and we all knew by the end of the films that they would change cinema forever. The first was E.T. and the second was Titanic.

You can dismiss it as a "girlie" romance, and it was the teen girls that made it a blockbuster. But it was Cameron who knew how to capture that lightning that was Leo, and a whole bunch of special effects that had never been done before, to deliver a spectacle. I find it difficult to believe that any true cinema lover that went into Titanic with no preconceived baggage could not recognize how important that film was for special effects in movies. For the first time a non-fantasy/SF audience was served a spectacular and they loved it.

Even though what I've seen of Avatar hasn't blown me away, I do have confidence in the King of the World to delivery something unexpected and unique.
