... and you can sense a bit of regret and that moral grey area from Ribisi's character as the film progresses.

And that was the ONLY point in which the film didn't go EXACTLY as I had suspected, I really thought Ribisi's character would step in and fight on the side of the Na'vi; esp with the continued pans towards him during the climactic finale.

If this is a Trilogy, then the first movie has established who the characters are in a basic plot, much like A new hope.
The sequel can be more intricate and expand on the universe much like Empire

I agree with the first one, but

What was the rare metal used for? Why was it so valued?
What is Gold used for? Why is it so Valued?

Why did Sully never tell 'his people' about what the 'sky people' had in mind until they were right at their doorstep?
He was conflicted by his duty to his superiors and he must have also been frightened to tell the Navi in fear of rejection.

One explination of the first one might be that Quaritch didn't see Judy leaving

you seriously don't know what gold is used for and why its valuable? and if you do it makes no sense to compare it to the movie's fake metal cause we dont know what its used for.

Personally I'm interested in a prequel showing the discovery of Pandora and the first meeting of Na'vi and humans.

My point is that Gold is a precious metal and I guess this fake metal is too, regardless of what it's used for.

Again Gold is precious for a reason. And thei metal is very important cause we are going to another freaking planet to get it. So it must be used for something. which is CAhobbits point that we dont know for what. so its a question i would like answered.

Don't worry we will be getting Avatar 2 and maybe even a third.

It seems my comparison of Gold is wrong.
I have looked up Unobtainium, and it seems Cameron chose to call it this as a joke.

So my local imax sent me a reply to my request about when they will have this in imax:

"We will not be showing this film. Thanks for your inquiry."

What?
What's the point of having an Imax there, if they not showing THE Imax movie everybody wants to see?
You should phone them, because it makes no sense

that does seem strange. Why would they build the thing in the first place if there not going to bother showing the films that everyone wants to see there ?.
:lol

Oh I intend too! I can't think of why they would. I have looked online and found something about them laying of employees. Keep in mind that this is at a place called Whitaker Center and its kinda like a learning place for kids. So the only thing I think of is that's it's not PG and they wont show it.

Glad you liked it!!!

Pandora was so well thought out... Cameron created a real utopia. I'm sure the underlying plot of man destroying nature wasn't lost upon anyone... Funny how Earth isn't all that far removed from Pandora when you get out of the cities every now and then (not that there's floating mountains or trees you can plug into, but in terms of lush flora).

Cameron sure does love to point out the evils of corporations too.... Aliens, Terminator 1 and 2, now Avatar...

Neytiri was smoking! :rock

Sully was pretty much out of 'being a good/loyal solider' for a while before the dozers and such started showing up. There was time to warn, yet he didn't. For me...it didn't fit the personality of someone that had come to 'love' (as he put it) the people, the planet and his mate.

As for Judy....that MIGHT be an explanation but there were other people on her 'ship'...one being the big mouthed guy who gets smashed in his AMP suit by the rino/hammerhead shark thing. So to think she would be given a pass seems highly silly given who her superior officer was and who was flying with her on that mission. Just an occurance in the plot that wasn't fleshed out enough IMO.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Saw it in 3D on Imax last night and it was truly awesome. I really felt like I was on Pandora. My only gripe is not with the film but the really uncomfortable 3d glasses that are doing pincer maneuvers around my head and the bridge of my nose. Having to move them around all the time was annoying.
Came home and ordered the AMP Suit straight away and look forward to seeing my money disappear when all the PF's and Hot Toys start coming into the market place.

So I just did some research and it looks like the IMAX place in Harrisburg had just fired 6 employees one was the person in charge. So maybe they couldn't afford to pay for the rights to play it. Not sure? I don't know much about what movies have to do in order to offer up a movie to their customers. :dunno Either way it sucks!
