Re: Jason Reitman’s GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Summer 2020

Paul Rudd would have been a great live action Real Ghostbusters (cartoon) Peter Venkman.

Instead, this movie is another next generation gimmick and the original passing the torch to a bunch of kids. :monkey4

I wish they would make a live action Real Ghostbusters movie instead. :(

I don't not like this news.

Aside from the original cast, I can't think of anybody more suited for this movie than Rudd.

I like Rudd, but the film has a bunch of kids in it like Stranger Things. That's lame, imo. It could work, given the subject, but it's probably more of a comedy than horror, so whatever.

Hell yes to Paul Rudd. He's proven to be one of the most consistently likable and funny actors in recent memory.

Teenagers as the Ghostbusters now...my god let this franchise rest already!

Yeah, I'm not sure female ghostbusters or teen ghostbusters really aligns with what defined the classic GB.

That being said, I recently saw a "I just rewatched GB for the first time in a long time" article and they said Venkman came across as a "*** pest.":lol

Re: Jason Reitman’s GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Summer 2020

After the 2016 bomb, I do like they’re at least trying to give some closure to the original films (not that they need it to begin with), and it’s refreshing to see the original Ecto-1 again instead of whatever that other car was in 2016; however, I‘m not sure having middle schooler Ghostbusters is the answer for that closure and would be all that much better than the 2016 flop; even if they’re descendants of one of the originals.

Like with anything, I hope it’s good, but my antennae is already up on this likely being another recent Hollywood remake/extremely late sequel flop.

The only Hollywood late sequel that I can say honestly looks pretty good by what I’ve seen from the trailer, despite how late it is, is Top Gun: Maverick.

I’m extremely gun-shy on all these nostalgia products but at least this one seems to have it’s heart in the right place. We shall see.

Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to. It's the only way Hollywood will quit bein' cheap and re-milking the teat.

But. Paul Rudd. And the producers have gotta know it's an uphill battle for this one.

Oh god pls don’t quote Krylo. I’m trying to muster some optimism. :lol

Re: Jason Reitman’s GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Summer 2020

I’d love seeing Rudd as a Ghostbuster. According to that VF article, he plays a school teacher who was a kid during the events of the original film and was enthralled with the Ghostbusters, so I suppose there’s perhaps a chance, albeit slim I’m guessing, that he could be one in this film.

If HT or BW does figures from this film, a Ghostbusting Rudd might be cool to have on the shelf with the original four.
