Re: Jean-Claude Van Damme "Bloodsport" Premium Format

What can I say about Jean Claude Van Damme? He's an enigma who's underestimated and respected by only a few. I'm gonna have te be honest here: He's one of my favorite martial arts actors who opened the door to the Jason Stathams of the 21st century. I would be very proud to have a 1/6 Van Damme in my display case and if Sideshow or Hot Toys ever considers putting him out then I will be the first on line to use my credit card!!!

Kickboxer is my favorite!!

Peace and God bless.

Sorry man, for some reason that made me laugh.

Why the hate for Van Damme? He was a great action icon in his days and many young people, including myself enjoyed his movies. :huh

Re: Jean-Claude Van Damme "Bloodsport" Premium Format

No hate, and I enjoyed some of his movies but to me anyway he is the sub-standard when it comes to action movies. He doesn't have a classic film under his belt. They're all pretty much cheeseball fluff. Again, IMO.

There is not necessarily any specific reasons for the "hate".

Maybe . . .

1. His failed marriages.

2. All those awful direct to DVD crap he starred over the past few years . . . kind of like Steven Seagal and Dolph Lundgren (except for his appearance in THE EXPENDABLES).

3. Not having any real viable theatrical release in how long?

4. Issues regarding his addictions?

5. Issues regarding his finances?

6. Realization that he is not necessarily the talented martial artist he claimed to be?

Just because you were a bonafide star of cool pics from the 80's and 90's . . . does not mean you're still respected.

Just look at Steven Seagal.

WAIT . . . how soon before a there should be a 1:6 Steven Seagal thread? Was there already one?

I'll admit Hard Target was good...due to John Woo & Lance Hendrickson.

Re: Jean-Claude Van Damme "Bloodsport" Premium Format

JCVD was the man in the early 90's. No matter how bad some think his movies were I wanted to be just like the guy.

Quote from GSP (UFC Champion):
“I started karate when I was seven years old, and at the time I was inspired by Jean Claude Van Damme in Bloodsport, Arnold Schwarzenegger and those kinds of actors,” St-Pierre told UFC.com. “I always wanted to be like the guy in Bloodsport, someone who was a champion in martial arts.”

Re: Jean-Claude Van Damme "Bloodsport" Premium Format

if this was a real PF it would end up in the same locker as the Brendan Fraser "The Mummy" PF.

Re: Jean-Claude Van Damme "Bloodsport" Premium Format

Nope, in the Cobra Commander PF 1/4th thread and usually have to listened to all the 1/6th fans attack the 1/4th fans. I'm in the 1/4 th thread to talk about CC, not how he's taking production time fro the precious 1/6th line ;)

:lol :monkey1 I love how completely one sided the above post is. If you don't want people's opinions, go make a blog. :wave

But in all seriousness, and your blatant personal bias aside, do you honestly think this would be successful enough to be produced? Especially as a Premium Format figure? Do you really think they'd be able to sell enough to justify making it? Seriously?

Though I would argue that Steven Seagal was a bigger star (and a real martial artist). :lol

Re: Jean-Claude Van Damme "Bloodsport" Premium Format

Sorry but I wouldn't pay $20 to have the real JCVD stand in my living room... In fact I would probably call the cops on him.
