Waffled a bit but decided to go for the single. My first JND. I think the unmasked sculpt looks good, but if I’m honest with myself I don’t think that pose/outfit is a statue worth $1600. I watched a review of the Nolan Batman duo set and was like, yeah, people in office clothing do not make for very exciting statues. Also, maybe in the minority but I also really don’t like the idea of the combined base for these duos, kinda takes the focus away for me on each statue, like if you had 6 Hot Toys all on one detolf shelf.

I have enough JND now to know from in-hand experience across Arthur Fleck, Joker, Batman, WW84, JLWW and The Batman that they mostly do 'JND Idealized', they don't just copy a portrait from a picture, they sort of merge different portraits to create their own - which I understand on an artistic level. This means none of their portraits are close to 100%, although I'd argue they're mostly in the 90% or so. But their brilliance is more in the hyper-realism. Once you accept that there's some artistic license at play, for me at least, the hyper-realism and, prototype quality, attention to detail at manufacture level, is what carries these.

For anyone thinking of this piece, ask yourself first how much it bothers if some things are slightly off, ie not 100%, because the overall presence of these statues, particularly this one looking absolutely phenomenal it's it capturing the iconography of the character, will probably be enough for you to accept it and then appreciate the overall statue as a sum of all its parts.

If you think it's too far astray, I'd still say give the single a shot if this is a character you love. That pose is striking, the overall statue looks dynamically impressive. At the price also it's probably the best in a long time it has been to take a gamble. For me it's always worth it.

Although I still think they should have given another portrait, there's not enough silicone usage alone, but I suppose the cat is supposed to make up for that.

Hope everyone who wants one is able to!

I'm one of those "rare" collectors who values JND's realism over being 100% accurate to the actor/actress.

However, I'm also acutely aware that, that is not what's being marketed or advertised - and I think JND is doing a disservice to both themselves and their customers by hyping themselves up as hyper detailed, and hyper accurate, but completely ignoring that this isn't the case....."Emperor's new clothes"....

I'm hoping that one day soon, JND will pull its head out of its *** - and lean into their strengths as a company, and start to create original characters.....Art Dolls, things we haven't seen before - away from the rabid mouths of pop culture. Yes, I guess we could point to the Basquiat piece, and use that as a reason to stick to the Marvel / D.C. formula.....but, even though Basquiat was a tank, I don't think that means everything outside the mainstream is therefore bad.

I’m surprised this hasn’t sold out yet. I recall the Reeve Clark/Superman duo sold out in 5 hours and the single Superman lasted 13 hours? I guess that can be due to Superman being more iconic and maybe a smaller production number? At least for the duo anyway.

This is my second JND preorder and noticed a few things. I’m not sure how many of you are also Hot Toys collectors, but I made a comparison of ordering from JND to ordering Hot Toys exclusives from Sideshow. I’m wondering if JND has a better website, or more efficient, than Sideshow. Ordering from JND is so simple and smooth, it’s easy to get your hands on a JND product. When ordering the recent Artisan edition figures from Sideshow the site freezes or crashes, so a random queue system was developed. You’re not guaranteed to get one.
These figures also have a much higher edition size (few thousand) but are still limited compared to the regular releases. However they go on waitlist within minutes compared to JND products which don’t get sold out until maybe the next day or so.

This is what I was charged ordering direct from JND (shipped to CA):

WW JL Platinum = $336 Shipping plus $43 VAT.

Catwoman TDKR = $265 Shipping + $132 VAT.

There were no customs fees from fedex or is that was VAT is?

Thanks for that! Not looking forward to whatever extra I’m going to be charged for my JL Superman :thud: I should hopefully get a shipping noticed within the next week since they said they should be done shipping all their direct orders by end of next week.

Probably not the last time you'll be saying that. :lol

High-end collecting leads us down a slippery slope.
Well I'm an Alien statue collector. Both prime1 chap and dog were 1799 and that was a lot at the time. Now they are 6k each lol. I also have their bloodborne doll paid for ready for shipping and pcs species and for that 1/3 , 200 es?), it's $1399. 1/3 is expensive but let's face it 2k for a 1/3 human character is wild expensive.

Sadly I think the Burton Batman movies just aren't as widely popular as they used to be. Prime 1 had a hard time selling their Keaton and Catwoman statues, and audiences pretty much shrugged at Keaton's return to the role in the Flash movie.

And even older collectors seem to prefer either the Bale or Affleck Batman now.

I will say the masked sculpt looks a LOT better in the official pics than it did in the video. Although weirdly it seems to work better for me in closeups than from a distance. And since I'd most often be viewing this statue on a shelf from a distance, that's kind of a problem.

It's clear to me that the Blitzway piece photo is in the worst possible lighting. Not to mention, our friend is comparing an amateur photographers in-hand photo to professional photos of prototype pieces......

This is why you can't trust anything you see on the web....too many hidden agendas, and misleading narratives
