Ah, so it’s Nolan's fault. Frickin' Nolan. Hack.
To be fair, Nolan is a creative Genius, but he’s not a comic guy, so of course his take on a Batman would be a bit more grounded and not a gothic character like we received with Pattinson. I like Pattinson’s gothic take on Bruce Wayne a lot, but I don’t like his Batman at all. Affleck’s Batman was brooding, great interpretation of TDKR but a completely lackluster forgettable Bruce Wayne.

his ability to act as Batman could’ve all been a bit more broody, more gothic

:lol

Come on, you know me, I've never cared for Bale as either Wayne or Batman. He's smarmy. I don't like smarmy. I never cared for the TDK exo-suit. Yes, he's a better actor than Keaton and Pattison, but I prefer both their takes on Batman/Wayne to Bale's. Just a personal thing. Bale must remind me of someone I didn't like when I was very young. Someone smarmy.

I understand what you mean. He’s never acted like a gothic recluse in his other work, which makes me a bit intrigued to see him out of his comfort zone. He definitely has the temper for it. Burtons style is perfect for a dark Batman, unfortunately I feel he was limited in how far he could go due to the time his film was made, they were all about kid toys back then and didn’t like him so much so that they absolutely wouldn’t let him do a third, Batman Returns is absolutely insane but wasn’t the right direction imo. I wanted more 1989 but didn’t get it with that sequel.

It's like they couldn't decide which way to make the make-up -- regular or interrogation style. They sort of split the difference.

Does Joker have that distinctive upward eye smear anywhere else in the movie? But here its faded.

This is the Hit me style makeup, to go along with the Chicago city street base. Interrogation happens right after so it’s understandable why there isn’t much variation, although I’d personally prefer a little more wear on the other sculpt.

I'm not sure what to think about those pictures. Part of me thinks its very good, very lifelike in terms of the outfit scaling with the head sculpt... but then part of me thinks it doesn't look very much like Ledger. It does... but it doesn't.

You’ve summed up pretty much exactly what I think about both JND Joker and Bale as Bruce Wayne.

Everything from the collar down should turn out fantastic. Unfortunately, JND’s primary selling point is also the weakest aspect of Joker, yet it’s also an incredibly realistic sculpt, just not realistic to Ledger…

And Bruce - he should at least be represented as a sophisticated, competent and respected businessmen and compassionate philanthropist, not a straight up spoilt douche- but I guess the latter is much more in line with real world billionaires and rich kids who inherited everything they have from daddy.

Doesn't really match the Hit Me make-up.

I always associate that big smear up from his right eye as coming from an unseen struggle with police. I mean, it is sort of there in the Hit Me moment, but looks more like a smear he'd make pushing his hair back over his ear -- its angled back and mostly at the back of the eye. The jail smear is really quite large and dark, going straight up.

Shhhhh. Kojun knows best. Even if it’s not accurate to the movie, he’ll make it even better than the movie.

It’s John Caglione’s (Heath’s makeup artist) idea of the makeup becoming more disheveled as the night progresses, from all the physical struggles, sweat, hair, Jokers hands, constantly coming into contact with it. I really like that they had him reapply it after he escaped instead of just letting it be.

No company is getting the makeup accurate to the film, if you want accurate paint placement, it needs to be hand painted while studying the scene. JNDs not doing it, HT is not doing it, InArts not doing it. I am curious to see this sculpt repainted by Black though.

HT paint is accurate to the mob scene, at least more accurate than any scene JND's is supposed to be. Queen 1/4 is also mob scene accurate.

JC Hong did a good job on it, no doubt about it. Though it could be a lot better, this is proof, same sculpt, both hand painted while studying a screen grab. He even made the InArt sculpt wayyy better than it came stock, so imagine work on both the JND sculpts, they already have hand punched hair, one has insanely realistic teeth. Just a matter of putting up the funds to have it done, but that’s not an issue if the quality of work is there. I’d prefer to put the money up to get the JND sculpts repainted than the HT artisan but that’s just me. I will have owned them all so not like I haven’t supported all three.

i wonder how JND's approach will be like to accept feedback because their public reception (even though they might not care because **luxury**) after the bombshell they dropped with bruce wayne.

inart has been nothing than mostly transparent and accepting feedback but this company? no clue wtf is gonna happen with their first 1/6 figure
