JND Kojun is for a different market..
I somewhat agree, but think the primary contributor to that is their pricing since it's straight up a prohibitive barrier to entry.

1/6 is really advancing lately so expectations across the board are rising as higher quality figures become more commonplace, along with constantly rising prices being expected.

Ultimately JND are in the 1/6 figure space competing with HT Artisan and InArt; both of which appeal to collectors who really care about accuracy, quality, and realism with regards to sculps, hair, seamless joints etc. and have a fair amount of disposable income. Maybe we can even throw JazzInc into that group.

Since HT and IA are cheaper than JND yet still make great stuff- especially IA, it's fair to expect that JND at a notably higher price point would be producing the best, most realistic, most accurate pieces, using the finest materials suitable for only the most committed collector but, with Joker, the increased price really only seems reflected in the fact they're using non-standardised tech and assemble figures in-house.

Whoever they're trying to appeal to, I think they've botched this first release big time and, with so much riding on a Ledger Joker, it's no wonder they're recalling the first batch to completely redo it. Shame the sculpts won't be changed at all though.

Good on JND. This is what Jazzinc should have done with their dented up Batmobile, or HT with their 89 2.0 suit.
For a $250-$350 figure, that was almost never happening for HT. You guys are giving praise for JND recalling the product for improvements, but at that price point, they really had to, they have no choice.

They most certainly have a choice. They could've very much let it ride as is and stuck to the release no matter how much flak they were getting.

When we're at this level of collectible (meaning HT, InArt, JND), price shouldn't matter when it comes to making improvement on the final product. It shouldn't matter that just b/c the others are comparatively cheaper that they get to slide when they screw up.

InArt should have done the same with their Ledger Joker. They made it seem as if their figure would be the best 1/6 Joker produced. But it fell short in many areas that added up to being really disappointing.

I don't know. It seems they understand at their price point, a lot was riding on this release especially with the lukewarm reception of their TDK Batman and Catwoman. I don't even see them offering their one-time use articulated fingers anymore. Lol! You have influenzas with big followers questioning this and even outright canceling. So I'm assuming that scared JND.

for those happy with their purchase KUDOS !
But I think they are shady as all f@ck !
I will never purchase from them after seeing this debacle and that my friends is the rest of the story .

I could never justify blowing this much money on a single 1/6 figure, but if anything, the recall would make me want to buy from them even more; not that I ever will.

I’d much rather they recall and fix the issues than just leave us high and dry, like Hot Toys did with their bumpy 1989 Batman or awful Begins Batman, or InArt with some of their QC.

But maybe this is just a marketing ploy to salvage some of JND’s trashed reputation and will never happen again after this.

How can we be angry if they are going to improve it? It is expensive, but so was the Inart and they did not do anything that JND is doing. I was ok with what they had shown so far and now that they did this recall to improve it, I am all for it. Now, if they would asked for more money to fix it, that would have been a different story.

I will judge them until I have it in hand.

Unexpected move from JND. Good on them.
However my fundamental issue has always been the sculpt which I seriously doubt they'd be amending.

Yes, applaud JND for making this ballsy and costly move - but honestly all the silicone and the best joker outfit in the world won’t be enough to justify the cosplayer look this has for the price they are charging for it. At this point in the joker figure game, there have been at least a good couple of dozen or more sculpts that look a LOT more like Ledger than this one does. They really need to address that.

If all that comes out of this whole fiasco is the best (mass produced) Joker outfit on the market, that’s probably still gonna be a win.

If the type A sculpt is unsatisfactory in-hand, selling it on probably wouldn’t be that hard so there’s some cost recouped, then it’s a simple matter of a body swap, top of the range custom sculpt acquisition, and the jobs a goodun.

Saw this on the gram and it’s the first time I’ve felt a strong sense of Ledger in the likeness.

Currently, I’m leaning towards paying when my balance invoice does eventually come in.
