Job interview questions you hate

Job interviews suck and they can also be deceiving. There was one guy I interviewed who was really nervous and kept stumbling on his questions. In other words it was a bad interview for him. But there was something about him that just compelled me to give him a chance. Well I'm glad I did because he was the best worker I ever had the pleasure of working with. He was just nervous and intimidated of the pretty girls that had to sit in for the interview. As a guy I can totally relate.

I once got this one:

"If you and a fellow companion were stranded in the desert and your companion was injured and unable to walk on his own. Would you leave him behind and go for help or take him with you?"

If I liked them I would take them with me. If they were a-holes let them stay.

I would say it depends on their weight. If it's a 110 lb girl then I'll carry them; but, if it's a 500 lb fat ass then he stays put while I get help. That's the only choice because if I roll him he/she may get more injured.

My most recent job application was for an academic position, and they ask equally annoying questions:

"What can you contribute to our department that others couldn't?"

"How do you plan on getting outside funding?"

"How willing are you to work with students on research projects?"

"When will you finish your dissertation?"

The answers, of course, require as much BSing as any other interview would :)

"Why do you think we should hire you?" :cuss

Why not? :D

You should totally start asking counter-questions Dwight Schrute style:

Why are we in the desert?
Which desert is it?
What time of the day was it when it happened?
How did we get there?
Who is my companion?
How was my companion injured?

:D:D:D

I always like to answer that one with...

"No. I've never been convicted." :D

Well done, you're hired!

True story, we just had interviews in my office for interns. And one of them actually interviewed well; well spoken, answered questions well and seemed to know what he was doing. However, at first I noticed a few beads of sweat on his forehead, then gradually his face got redder and redder and he began sweating profusely; the phrase "sweating like a whore in church" came to mind. So much so that his whole face was wet and water was pooling under his chin and dripping off.

Then, as soon as we got to the "what questions do you have" section he dried up and was fine. The damnedest thing I've ever seen in an interview, we all felt bad for him. But, plus side, he still got the position.

just had an interview, but can't say i hated any of the questions as they were all open ended questions that had to do with the job at hand. however, i did hate that it was a panel interview with 7 people so that was like a kick in the sack.
