Re: FINAL PICS PREORDER NOW [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

No offense but I could care less about my credibility on this site or what you think of me.

Fair enough!

I agree that the Morgan Freeman is a near perfect likeness and that the Gambol MJW is not the same level, but to suggest the MJW sculpt looks 'nothing like him' I think is quite harsh. Likeness is subjective yeah but that just doesn't make any sense to me, just looking at simply features like the nose, the lips, the eyes, the brows, there's plenty of likeness there IMO.

:lecture

Learn some tact.

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Yeah, I think constructive criticism is a good thing for artists, because it can help them to see things they might not otherwise that could improve their craft. But just saying that something is bad or sucks or whatever is not constructive and not really welcome behavior on the board. These artists come here and show off/sell their work to us. We should be thankful for them, and not engage in behavior that serves no useful purpose apart from potentially turning them off to posting IMO.

I think JOhnny has some amazing skills, personally. His Jigsaw is flat out awesome.

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

I'm tired to see that likeness is subjective!

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

got my order in! these are truly amazing figures from iminime. I do agree with Ray that Somerset's sweatervest is a large omission on the outfit as it is worn in almost every scene in the film. hopefully denny will be able to add this in if cost restrictions allow it. otherwise, simply amazing! I can't believe I have this, Michael Corleone, Gordon, and Rah's all on the way!:hi5::yess:

Completion on these protos mean, Work on Ra's proto will go full steam ahead... so keep checking the Ra's thread from time to time and those on that list: remember to keep that $350 set aside during the 2nd week of May! :wink1:

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

Before there are more comments made on this, im not bashing Cheungkinmen as he's done some excellent sculpts along with paint ups. Personally I dont see the likeness at all, thats my opinion and thats how I feel about it. If you dont agree then thats fine and dandy but im entitled to my opinion. I bought it up because of an earlier comment having to do with the likeness of black people being off from time to time and for me a perfect example of that is the Michael Jai White sculpt. Anyway, the point was that with Denny and Iminime, you get spot on likeness with the figures at hand which is what this thread is about.

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

I actually also have to say I agree with the sentiment that likeness is not subjective. It either is there or it's not.

That being said I actually have not seen the head in question. I can and do believe though that what is subjective is the enjoyment of the sculpt.

I don't think likeness is subjective but I do believe that a person can like the quality of the sculpt, the expression, detail or paint or sculpt job regardless of how much the likeness is or is not there. I have a few heads that I think are off in likeness but what they lose in likeness thye more than make up for in character.

For example I think that the likeness on the Al Pacino Respect from Enterbay is one of the top three all time likenesses captured. I think the likeness on his Blitzway counterpart is nowhere near the EB level. However I like them equally because I think the BW sculpt captures the character better than the EB one does.

That's my subjective opinion, but what is factual is that the EB head has the superior likeness to the actor.

:clap Perfect explanation buddy! :yess:

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

While I agree that likeness in itself is an objective thing (either it is there or it isn't), perceptions of how close or far away a sculpt is are subjective, and will always color our interpretation of a sculpt because no sculpt is ever going to be 100% perfect.

Surely since these are pretty much sold out they need to start putting them together and shipping them out to all those who have signed up before moving on to there next project?

They are working on concurrent projects rather than just moving on. That is just normal business practice.

Everything is going on side by side. While they were working on these protos, they were also banging out the Messi and Michael Corleone figures.

Ah ok thats cool :) new to this custom game cheers for the clarification

Re: SELLING OUT SOON [iminime] Serial Killer Movie (7) - Detective 'M' & 'S'

I know I still need to improve my craft. I've been sculpting and painting for almost 2 years now, on and off, juggling between my real life job, of course I'm not NEAR the quality of Iminime's team, or rainman or serang, adam gu, Trevor grove to name a few.

But mentioning my work as the bad example of what shouldn't be is quite discouraging. I'm just a 1 man operation, from sculpting to molding and painting and shipping and everything else in between.

I respect your opinion Eric.

Sorry for derailing the thread with my comment. Back on topic.

Awesome sculpts by Iminime, the girl who sculpted Morgan Freeman is the next Yulli! Even better than her IMO.

No need to feel discouraged dude, I love your work! Otherwise, I wouldn't be buying it :hi5:

Honestly I don't think there's a single sculptor/painter on this board that has shown such a drastic learning curve as you have

Btw, the girl sculpted the Brad Pitt.
Morgan Freeman is the work of Ha You Hong
