........but i hope the surfing is at the end of the show so i can turn the channel and the surfing fans can enjoy the surfing. :monkey3
There is going to be a lot of surfing I can tell you that. They would have not cast Greyson Fletcher as the son or Keala Kennelly in the show. Both are top level surfers. Also when you look at the stunts list from the first episode they have some serious surfers there too.

With all due respect Dave, I think calling it pretentious after the first episode is a little harsh.

After I wrote my comments above, I saw the review recap on AICN https://www.aintitcool.com/node/32944. Most of the reviewers saw 3 episodes and had the same reaction I did after one - pretentious and purposefully obscure.

It doesn't help that I hate it when they ask pro sports figures to act.

I liked NYPD Blue, although obviously Bochco kept something of a rein on Milch. I thought the milieu of Deadwood was interesting, but it was never an appointment show for me. The Zen attitude coupled with surfing (gag!) will make this show a must miss for me.

One good thing about HBO, probably all 10-13 of the initial order have already been shot, so they won't pull it like Fox would. But they better find it some good lead-ins and lead-outs or it's not going to do very well.

I watched it last night. I thought it was o.k. but I'm still a little butt hurt over the way Deadwood ended. I'm interested to see how this new show plays out. BTW, I do think Milch has become a little to full of himself.

Also a lil side note but this is some what based on Greysons (the kid)family. Greyson is Christian Fletchers son and had some issues in the past nothing as bad as the character but parts of it are not a strech and the dad is based a lil on Herby Fletcher Christian's Dad.

One of the strangest shows I have ever seen... Does HBO think this will be a bigger success than Deadwood???? I know Deadwood cost a lot more to make but come on....

I just bought the 3rd season of Deadwood and am terribly saddend that we will not get to see the 4th (and final) season that Mitch had intended. I truely hope we get the movies before it is all forgotten about.

HBO should only film 70-80% of every season before airing... If the ratings are down then they should give the creators a chance to wrap up story lines.

Okay that was weird.

So John can manifest things or what??

When the Vietnam guy asks for $50 John had exactly $50.

When Butchie asks for $2300, John had exactly $2300.

When Butchie asks for his phone John had it.

Grandson brings **** back to life?!?!?

Grandpa levitates?!?!?!?

Very strange show.

I really liked Al Bundys character. And I thought the kid was a HORRIBLE actor.

I did like the episode, I will give a chance.

The second episode is available on demand. I watched it last night, I'm loosing interest fast. Bring back Deadwood now C@(k $uckers!!!!!!:monkey2

The more I watch this show, the more I love it, I think a lot of you guys saying you hated it was pretty unfair after just one episode. The entire cast is awesome and the story is weird but intriguing. They haven't shown many surfing moments since the first episode, so those of you who were turned off by that can relax.

I think John may be some sort of angel or alien or something, in tonights episode he channeled Bill's dead wife's voice, he knows intimate details about everyones life and it seems like he can see the future. I think it's great and I hope it can continue after the first season.

Wow I have watched the whole first season and I am still confused. I think that is the draw from me, ite like WTF? So is John Jesus's son? Thats the only thing that makes sense. Anyone still watching this

I watched the whole season and the one thing that is obvious is that John is not of this world and I think he has a connection to a higher power. Yes, the story is confusing, but the characters is what really made the show for me. I hope there will be a second season.

Uh, I got that from the first episode. If after 13 episodes (or was it 6?) and that's all you know - I'm glad I skipped it.

Yeah, but the fact that the characters in the show have no idea what the hell is going on and that John is shrouded in mystery is what makes interesting. I enjoy a build up before something is completely revealed, JFC didn't give away anything this season, he just continues to be some weird guy with powers to the people of I.B..

I'm torn about this show. It's frustrating that not a lot happens, everyone seems crazy and it's hard to understand exactly what's going on. But there's something about the weirdness of it all that makes me keep watching.

I also like how actors from Deadwood keep showing up. It was good to see Wu in tonight's episode.

But honestly, if this show doesn't come back next season, I'd be fine with that.

Cancelled. I liked some of the characters alright, but it was really rough to try and figure out what the point of the show was.....and that's coming from a David Lynch fan. :emperor:D
