Actually velociraptors were about the size of a big dog or bigger (1.8 metres).
The JP raptors were more like Deinoychus.

A Deinonychus was about the size of a Timber Wolf, whereas the Utahraptor is about the size of the JP raptor. It's the same height though a bit longer. When Bakker started doing more work around the excavation of Utahraptor, he said, "We actually found the monster raptor from Jurassic Park." The JP raptor combined the traits of numerous raptors. The size and brute strength of Utahraptor, with the intellect of the smaller Velociraptor. It's more of a paradigm or organismal survey of raptors in general.

Well that bodes well for getting a Dilophosaurus with frill, if the JP Raptor isn't scientifically accurrate and this company made their figure off that design, then a Dilophosaurus may also just take the exact JP design, I can dream.

I just read JP velociraptor was modeled after deinonychus by Crichton, so i wasn't far of. The JP raptors are still bigger though.

Crichton modeled his raptors after them in the book, even in physical appearance. The raptors in the novel were much smaller, but no less vicious, than their film counterparts. Stan Winston upped the size of the raptors as well as their bulk to give them a "more imposing" presence on screen. Makes sense to expect the audience to react more viscerally to an animal that is vicious, intelligent, and physically imposing. Don't want to have that macho alpha male demographic saying, "I could take that thing," do you? Instead, what you do is have one knock the knowledgeable game warden off his feet, pin him to the ground, and devour him alive. That sends a message, and that message is :horror.

Anyone on the fence about picking these up, get off it. I just got my Rex and Raptor in the mail today, wow, stunning, the paint apps and sculpt work are very detailed and realistic looking. Where were dinosaur toys like this when the movie first came out and I was 12 hehe. I'll be taking pictures later of course but won't to post my excitement. Coolest tiny figures in my collection :rock

I bought the Spino and Raptor for my son, and man they are fantastic!
I didn't get the T.Rex 'cause I didn't like the stance... I might get the Allosaurus though.

Photo time, first up, my favorite, the Rex.

Here's a scale shot for the Raptor in case some of the other scale shots haven't helped folks.

Old school JP Rex and the new stuff, I don't know if quality's improved much over the years :lol

And a shot showing an evolution to my T-Rex collection. The purple one on the left was my very first T-Rex toy from when I was like 4, still have it, old school style for the body and all, more the Godzilla type look, then the Juvenile T-Rex from JP back in the 90's and now the new Papo Rex. I have the adult Rex from the 90s too, but hard to fit him into the shot with these guys.

Absolutely not regrest buying these guys.

GREAT PHOTOS MAULFAN!!!!

I am happy that you love these. For this price I don't see how anyone can be unhappy.

I love these figures! Without question I am happy I found these and I still can't get over how great they look.

They are all awsome even the boring plant eaters.

Wow these are nice (especially in MF's photos, whoa!), I'll definitely pick up a few. Any news of more? Perhaps another Rex or Raptor in a different pose?

i'm split on these guys.
the good thing is they're sculpted/painted exceptionally well.
the bad thing is the price for what you get ($30-$40 for rex/spino last i looked)... they're not big, have little or no articulation, and not to scale with each other.

also, i still have that purple t.rex figure in the last pic since i was wee, too.

jurassic park, heh i still have my man eating t-rex, i think it still has G I joe guys in his stomach

I still wish I bought the two Rexes from TLW, even though they would end up sitting in a box right now.

:lol

Out of everything I had, I think I played with my JP stuff the most. I loved Dinosaurs and when JP came out I was in heaven.

The rex which swallowed stuff was actually going to come out for the original JP line. Colored reddish-brown.

Whoa... wait a sec, you can get the T. Rex for 19 bucks at amazon. Allosaurus is also up for 17 bucks, although that one ships from healthstone.
