Just have to put my two cents worth in-

Just got the T-Rex and it is fantastic! I was really surprised by it the sculpture is beautiful and very faithful to the JP design. The level of detail is on par with what McFarlane has done with their Dragons line. Every scale-like texture is wonderful. The paint looks great in person, too... and the size, while maybe a bit small for some, is refreshing, considering how little space I have. :)

Already have my raptors on order. :D These are really a great quality for what you're paying.

It's funny, being used to buying larger scaled pieces, these almost feel too tiny, but then, they're some of the smallest pieces I've got in a long time but more detailed than some of the larger ones. As far as detailing goes, there's little reason to wish to see these figures in a larger size, there's not a whole lot extra they could do, maybe more detailed paint, but sculpt wise I think they got it all.

I bet HT dinos would be amazing. Personally, I'd enjoy them out of scale with each other and just made large enough to be badass.

I think the only problem with smaller size is that the teeth on the raptor can't have separation. Otherwise, I fully agree...they did a helluva job on with these. I honestly can't even imagine the time it would take to texture these.

When can I get a Brachiasaurus?! :) I wish they could pull off the spitter, but...obviously that won't happen. It's amazing they got by with producing these, as they are dead on JP.

Thanks to JAWS for bringing these to our attention!

Ya, big kudos to JAWS. Hell, I looked at the copyright on Rex, he's been around since 2005.

While the teeth situation sucks for the Raptor, it's still done pretty nicely. I've got some Bandai Godzillas done similarly and it looks really ugly on those.

That's why if HT ever did JP dinos I'd want large sized and out of scale so Rex wouldn't kill your shelf room, and Raptor could have individual teeth and really be a sharp too, poseable big claw, the works.

Your Welcome guys! I'm glad you like them. When I got these I could not wait to spread the good news :)

That's why I love the community aspect of this site, I have so many collectibles I'd never own if it weren't for being around here and folks being kind enough to let others know stuff's out there. Without Freaks I'd have never known about these Papo pieces, it would never occur to me to look for them, but now I have them and I'm very happy. I may get a second and third Raptor just to have a pack, even if they're identical. Might get a second Rex to pain the brown scheme.

Maulfan. I don't know if this will interest you but since you said you might buy another T-Rex and paint it, I thought you might want to check the procon deluxe T-Rex out. It looks like JP but somthing is just not right. I like it but don't love it. I think it's the paint job. So if you are willing to repaint a T-rex I think this would lok pretty col next to your papo. It goes for around $20 - $25. They also make a giant one that is 33" long and 18" high for 99.00. Photo on the bottom right hand side of papo and procon t-rex together.

Thanks for the heads up, paint job certainly is a factor, but even the pose doesn't seem right. I'll probably stick with a 2nd Papo if I do it. Seeing them right beside each other, the Papo looks like the king of the dinosaurs and the other one looks more like a dragon or something in the movements the pose suggests.

Jeez, had I known these would be so popular here, I would have posted my pics back in '05 when I purchased my T.rex and Velociraptors. For mass producing figures, the teeth on the Velociraptor are fine by me. In that scale I imagine individual teeth would be quite difficult, while this produces the in-line dentition concealed by the lips in the JP-fashion.

Oh, and I wouldn't jump the gun on customizing a T.rex just yet. This is probably Papo's most popular line, easily, what with so many JP collectors like myself, and now so many other collectors obviously impressed with the pieces. I imagine they'll probably produce another T.rex or possibly another raptor with different paint jobs. They've regularly done this with their animal line, varying paintjobs and poses for the same animal species.

I will have to get these still , keep forgetting with all the other collecting madness at the minute. Awesome photos Maulfan and thanks for the heads up Jaws. Appreciate it. :rock

Those dinos look pretty good to me. I was hoping we'd see more stuff from Sideshow a little sooner.

Wait!!! You have known about these since 05??? To the Gallows with you!!!

;)

They've actually been very popular on JP Toy sites such as jptoys.com and jurassictoys.net. My sincerest apologies for never bringing them to anyone's attention, though I'm glad that you guys have taken to them as enthusiastically as I have. :D

So the T.Rex, Pachy and Allosaurus made it here (orderd them for my 5-year old, he's a dino-nut).
The T.Rex is fantastic!
I love the Allosaurus, but he does look a bit dragon-like... I was used to the look of the Walking with Dinosaurs look.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to more of these toys.

The Allosaurus look is based on Todd Marshall's artwork. The dermal scale ornamentation along the spine was meant to be a sort of rudimentary transition to feathers. It was controversial at first, but we're finding more and more evidence in support of it. The Allo design is pretty cool, imo. It's nice that it's in scale with the Stegosaurus, but I wish it were closer in scale to the T.rex and Spino. Still, awesome figure!
