Thought you all would like to see the pride of my JP collection...

This is the Horizon vinyl kit, next to the Papo version...

Really a shame Horizon went under; they made outstanding products.
As long as I'm at it, a bit of my own work...

This is a casting of my original sculpt. It's @ 31"x11"tall, measured off and modeled after the cast of 5027 at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philly. And it's for sale...PS

Great work on the kit maiN.

I really love dinos, but haven't been collecting them. I will buy a dilohosaurus if Papo makes one though. he is my favorite dino.:rock

Truly amazing work with the Horizon kit! I've seen some of their JP Velociraptor and Dilophosaurus that have been done magnificently. Still have yet to see someone do a sterling job on the Brachiosaurus, but it's probably just because of the increased popularity of the predators.

At any rate, very very nice work on the kit! The paint job is quite good!

Well my son's 3rd birthday was this past Friday and he got all his dinos. Needless to say he loves them. Here is a photo of his collection

Here are some photos of both our collections together.

so... why did they make an allosaurus and not a dilophosaurus?

... As much as I like the Allosaurus, and I do think it's quite awesome, this is a very good question. Hhmmm, wish I had an answer. The only thing I can think of is that they couldn't arrive at an agreement as to whether it should include a frill or not, since the frill was an original invention for JP.

Actually, the frill is a Stan Winston invention. The book version is frill-free. Of course, when you consider the cloning methods involved, almost anything is possible...PS

Seems I was misunderstood; by JP I didn't mean the movie. Crichton described the Dilo as aggressive, venomous, and "beautiful" with brightly-colored crests. Crichton was referring to the crests atop its skull, but SW took this a bit further, taking the beauty and deadliness into a single element used to distract the prey long enough for the animal to launch its venom-laced saliva into the eyes of its victim. In the original novel, the animal was much more furtive in its attacks, rather than confronting its victim outright and point blank. Both are excellent concepts, but I think if people want a more iconic version of the Dilo, they would elect to have the frilled, smaller, juvenile version seen on screen; rather than a non-frilled eight-foot tall adult from the novel.

Anyone interested in a PAPO Spinosaur, Stego, Pachy, and Para, all from Papo? I'm letting them go, for a little less than cost.

I actually found these at the Houston Museum of Natural Science Gift Shop. I bought a velociraptor ... but they had most of the rest of them too. Aside from the Horizon statute, I cannot think of a better JP likeness. And, you'll never find a better bang for your buck.

That's so funny- I have a velociraptor that I bought at our local science museum. Looks really good attacking the 3 3/4 inch Indiana Jones.

dang it...........MF's pics make me want to order these now..............must resist.........not another line !!!!!

(thinking hottoys predator 1, hottoys predator 1, hottoys predator 1, hottoys predator 1...........)

These look really sweet, especially for the price. If I wasn't trying to save literally every penny for the Tusken Raider PF I would probably snatch up at least the T-Rex and Raptor.

The Papo dinos are actually pretty inexpensive. If you look around I think you can probably even end up getting the T.rex for around $20 or less. I'm considering picking up the Allosaurus soon. Perhaps after Christmas.
