Obviously it isn't the dinosaurs alone though as JPIII proved but the fact that they were a part of such a brilliantly exciting movie. I seriously doubt that JW2 will have a $200 million weekend.
Kind of like the "Terminator future war" movie that we all wanted but that never happened, we FINALLY got to see the park actually open! This moment will never be replicated.
Maybe this will be the year of questionable looking movies turning out badass. Jurassic World, Terminator Genisys, Fantastic 4. Was Fury Road expected to suck? Could this be a weird summer for movies
Who knows maybe Terminator Genisys will do similar money as Jurassic World - that lucrative ''can it really be as silly as it looks?'' curiosity market.
I certainly had no expectation of Fury Road being good. I assumed it was ''just another reboot'' - I didn't realise it was the original guy behind it till it was in cinemas and getting good reviews.

One thing I've always wanted to see in a JP movie, that I fear I never will now, is a T-Rex vs Triceratops fight. That was something every dinosaur-loving kid dreamed of, and it's been shown in books and video games. It's strange that out of all four films the Triceratops has only had roughly 5 minutes of screen time.
No one in this forum ever thought in a million years that Jurassic ****ing World would be taking the box office record away from Avengers.
Terminator is awesome. Please don't take offense this negative smarmy sounding question. But has a terminator movie ever come close to a box office record of any kind? JP had a bit of a precident woth box office success, but terminator I'm not sure.
Again, Don't terminate me A-dev

None taken. If T:Genisys is as crap as it looks it will deserve to do poorly.
As for box office records..I don't really retain that sort of info myself but I expect T2 did hugely well in cinemas. T1 not so much as it found and built its audience primarily on video I believe.
And the irony of Whedons feminist critique on JW makes it all the more enjoyable
The Stegosaurus was never prominently feature but at least it did have a small moment to swing it's tail in The Lost World.Yeah...and never really did anything. It's most iconic scene is having a hangover from too much "herb" ingestion. Even the stego had it's moment in Lost World.
That was a cool fight. The Ankylo was doing pretty good, but in the end he was no match. It was kind of hard to watch the Indominus roll him over like a turtle and go right for his head/throat.Yeah I've always found that strange. I certainly thought we'd see that fight before we ever saw an Ankylosaurus VS Indominus Rex

I think after this movie though it will be too late to see the desired Trike vs Rex fight as we seem to be going down the human race vs dinosaurs path. Or human race + cybernetic raptors vs dinosaurs path...or human race + cybernetic dinosaurs vs mutant/hybrid dinosaurs path. No time for simple dinosaur quarrels anymore.

No records for T2, but it was the #1 film in 1991. T3 also did very well....much better than Jurassic Park 3. The reason JW made so much money is because of nostalgia, and the marketing really focused on that, so TG should do the same, especially since the new story goes back to the first two films.
