Not sure what you guys were looking at, but Rey was a pretty buzzy and popular character after TFA (and not just among little girls). It was only after the third movie completely botched her story that everyone suddenly stopped caring about her.

And I remember there being lots of interest in Poe and Finn as well....until TLJ did nothing interesting with them.

the merchandise didn't sell well. a lot of finn and poe and rose figures on clearance that didn't move.

Bring on the Rey film!
Also known as The Return of the Witches. The Witches Awaken. AKA: Somehow the Witches returned!

Without them how are they going to blame straight men for steeling female power and ruining the universe.
Guarantee they will finish whatever "thread" they started in the Acolyte in the Rey film.
With the Jedi shown as absolute self-serving degenerate creeps, Luke as the absolute symbol of their contiued failure, the Force affirmed as toxic, and the OT rendered a completely meaningless chapter in their "greater" narrative.
It will take Rey to bring the true power of the "thread" back.
Can't wait. :lol

I liked Rey when she first showed up. I felt bad for her sad little solitary life. She would eat crappy microwave good in the shadow of a fallen AT AT while wearing an X-Wing helmet. It was working for me, despite the fact that she would have skin more leathery than George Hamilton's living alone on a desert planet, and most likely her teeth would have fallen out from malnutrition instead of having a set of perfectly straight, pearly white perfect teeth.

Then when she started gilrbossing to Finn I was like "oh I don't like that."

Then when she was the world's best pilot of the Millennium Falcon, I started rolling my eyes.

By the time she was doing the Jedi mind trick without ever having seen it done or even known it existed. I completely checked out and just started looking my phone.

Anchoring the most anticipated trilogy in cinematic history around a complete charisma vacuum was a huge part of the sin against pop culture that is Disney Star Wars.

:lol
I'm sorry to laugh but some have desperately been predicting and celebrating her imminent demise as Disney-Lucasfilm’s president since as far back as TFA -TLJ

She's like the T-1000 to ya'll.

She has kept reforming, but fan lava's done the work. This despite a high-profile female corp exec being 100% unfire-able in the social climate of the past decade, especially one that has so openly pushed gender/sex/race messaging, not to mention one with deep personal connection to the iconic franchise creators. The idea she would be fired was always laughable.

But no new SW film in seven years (after a movie a year,) Indy losing $150-200m, and multiple SW series cancelled after one season is the fan voice equivalent of DOGE. And KK is now on the fifth re-draft of her e-mail.

Wasn’t that weird? She just all of a sudden knew how to do a Jedi mind trick. They centered a whole mystery around her and pulled it out there ass that she was a relative of palpatine to course correct TLJ blunder

Nah, it’s happening. Variety and Hollywood Reporter have reported on it as well by this point.
Disney have blatantly told the trades that Kennedy is going by the end of the year. They don't report something without a credible source, normally a studio asking them to make something public. Disney have wanted her to go for a while but she is unfirable and keeps clinging on. The rebuttal to the rumour will be Kennedy's camp trying to get out and hand wave it away as a rumour but this is it. The trades have never come out in force reporting on Kennedy's impending end at lucasfilm before. This saga is more interesting than the content that lucasfilm puts out.

20 years down the line the tell all books will be a very interesting read

IIRC she did the Jedi mind trick after she successfully resisted Kylo Ren's efforts to use the Force to ascertain Luke's location during his interrogation of her. She didn't know how she did it but afterward she realized she had some latent ability akin to that of KR. So while still far-fetched it worked the first* time it wasn't that ridiculous that, given her dire predicament, she'd take a stab at aping what KR attempted with her.

* - Actually, it worked on her 2nd attempt. Just remembered her first try was a failure.

The main cast was like the PT's Ric Olie figure.

Who wanted to play with a Ric Olie figure?

"The whole planet is one big city"
Man that is so true isn't it.

OT: Han, Luke, Leia
PT: Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme
ST: Rey, Finn, Poe

"They fly now," "Rey, there's something I need to tell you," and "REYYYYYYYYY" versus "The whole planet is one big city" and "the power is back, that little droid did it!" I'm not at all surprised if people prefer the latter, lol.

padme was better than rey. Rey was ok. but, padme was nicer.
