Exactly. Companies make one-off bodies for 1/6 figures all the time. Both Hasbro and Medicom have done it for Yoda (though Medi's is technically a VCD). Who can't Sideshow do it? And why is it perceived that their 1/6 figures have to be cookie-cutter manufactured in order to keep costs at a reasonable level? As far as I know, this is no longer 4-5 guys making figures and model kits in a garage.
Would it really be cheaper to R&D a brand new body from scratch for use on a figure most people will only buy one of or max, two? All that time sculpting, assembling, the necessary time needed for creating the molds for every aspect of the figure, molding, prototype approval, etc. Or would it be cheaper to modify parts for existing pieces? Common sense tells me the latter. It's faster and more efficient since new molds won't be necessary for the complete figure, just small portions of the figure. Which means the prototype gets assembled faster, approved faster, and produced faster and at less cost to the company.
