I saw the EFX at a local store in Atlanta this weekend and like everyone's been saying, up close it doesn't look that good, which is weird because from afar in the pics I've seen here, the paint app looks much better than the KA. I started a poll at a couple of spots, non-collector places, and majority think the KA looks sleeker and nicer aesthetically from comparison pics. But yeah, I like to have a metal construction and a pedestal display. I just hope they allow it in conventions and security doesn't consider it a weapon... :lol Hopefully I'll be able to take a short break and see how the KA looks in hand, and worst case, I can return it or sell it and get the EFX at the store, or if my preorder hasn't charged on BBTS yet.

I think people expected a hero version of the shield from EFX and were let down when it was just a stunt shield. Not taking anything away from them but I wish they would go the extra mile and make a metal version in the future. Even if its not "taken from the exact molds used in the film".

I too like the Pedestal option. The wall frame is nice but I would worry about the weight if not using stud screws.

KA all the way for me :D

I forgot who it was, but someone said we haven't seen the last of the Cap shields and I agree. While they might move onto AoU shields with the different handle, I do hope they revisit the TFA or WS shields at some point.

I agree, I can't drill holes in the wall so the wall mount was gonna be an issue for me, but the light-up feature was definitely cool.

I am waiting on my Classic version to ship :D I cant wait! This has been a grail piece for me for years now.

Are you curios to see the BD version as well ? If they knock it out of the park I will be disappointed I didn't PO it as well.

Yes I am very excited to see it. I'm hopeful they can execute the battle damage properly and not over do it. Less is more with Battle damage less paint, less blackwash the better.

Yes, that would could've the most unique one they make that stands out, just have no clue what their paint will look like for shomething like that. Hopefully in the next month it will release and we will know.

Yea I feel that it could look phenomenal if done correctly, just like the movie poster image. I have a feeling it will be the most coveted.

I hope you enjoy it buddy. You'll feel good about it once in hand. Barring any QC on the paint (no jinx, but it can happen), you will love it. I cannot see you being disappointed based on the criteria you want to have in a shield. It really is beautiful, a beautiful metal shield. Take it outside when you get a chance and then you will appreciate how good the paint on it really is. Photographing it outside from 2 feet to 200 feet it looks great. I was blown away how vivid the red and blue pop in natural light.

Which store in ATL had it, if you dont mind me asking? I would love to see on in person myself. From pictures alone I kinda am preferring the EFX over the KA Shield I currently own, but I want to be sure before I make the plunge.

Thanks Hokie for your outdoor pics. It looks beautiful with the outdoor lighting. The blue and red definitely looks more like the on-screen colours. I agree that the difference between indoor and outdoor lighting on the shield's colours is quite drastic. Most of the scenes filmed were either outdoor or at least with partial outdoor natural lighting which shows the true vibrant colours of the shield.

I think most people will prefer the metal shield in general, just because Captain America's shield is in fact constructed of the metal alloy which we know in the Marvel Universe as vibranium. EFX took a chance to make this fiberglass version, which I think is still commendable as they were focused on creating a movie accurate prop replica like the rest of their collectibles. But going forwards, EFX themselves may consider a metallic version if they decide to produce another version of Cap shields, due to the fact that most enthusiasts probably prefer an actual metal shield to represent Cap.

Do these seem to be not really selling on the aftermarket ? Seems that the people who got them really want them and didn't get just to flip ?

I went to WonderCon this last weekend and they had the stealth shield on display at the efx booth - the paint job looked bad up close and there was a crack on the side of the shield. But I am sure they are being true to the prop that was used in the movie
As far as props go - they typically don't look that good in real life, they just look good on screen - this is just my experience from the various displays I have seen of actual props from movies - that being said, if you like props, then efx is the one for you.

I did purchase a Kings Art original Cap shield and I am waiting for its arrival

I think it is a combination of that, along with the fact that they were not easily accessible in North America.
Once the BBTS preorders went away, only Hong Kong sellers and Midtown had them, and that is not a lot to go around.

Just snagged the stealth shield. I'll post pics when I get it in. Lol, with my eBay bucks just grabbed this for $220 shipped.:yess:

I think it is a couple of things to me.

A) They are not in big supply. According to the website there is less than 3,000 shields worldwide (less than 600 per shield type).
B) Regionally available in Asia only. (Apparently BBTS and Midtown technically should not have these based on the licensing.)
C) Its the only full size officially licensed metal shield (if that matters to you) in the world right now.
D) If you are in the market for a metal shield and you open it, you'll keep it.

Alright guys. Need your advice. I got a King Arts Loki Scepter. I really like the look, but it came broken in half! It's a clean break, but I don't know what I could use to fix it so that it would be able to hold its own weight. Any thoughts? I can get a full refund, but being in the states, getting a new one for a reasonable price is iffy. If I want to keep the broken one and fix it, my total cost for the item would be about $350. Should I keep it?

You can use Jb Weld or any other epoxy. It will look like complete crap with whatever you use if no sanding or paint is used. The problem is the staff is plastic. Cheap plastic at that unfortunately. The JB weld would absolutely hold the weight. But you are probably looking at a total or a large repaint to blend it properly.

The nice thing with JB is you can sand it. You can get it to look good on the surface.

That was you! lol... I was watching that one go up and up in 30 seconds.

All those points are correct, I just got confirmation on picking up a battle damaged shield for $400 USD plus shipping from Hong Kong.
Pretty happy with that price, figured I can flip it easily once in-hand.

Damn, you must've bought a lot on eBay the past 3 months!!! :lol The stealth shield ended at just under $700 right?
