300 had one of the most unique themes in 20th century art. That kind of attitude hasn't been seen since WWII, the American Revolution, and the Golden Age Greeks before that. There's been nothing but pragmatic, appeasing, approval-seeking, consensus-pandering skirts otherwise. It's about time someone depicted characters with a spine. Other than Batman, King Kong and Kill Bill, I don't know of any film that has reached that level of unapologetic heroism since the days of Steve McQueen.
