That's what I thought, too, but then why would Sideshow have limited all of its Indiana Jones-related releases to ROTLA and KOTCS so far? All 4 of their released and upcoming 1:6 scale figures have been from ROTLA, in addition to the PF. For KOTCS, we have the 1:4 scale crystal skull that came with the DVD, in addition to the upcoming PF.

So if they have the license for all four of the movies, why are they limiting themselves to those two in particular? Granted, ROTLA is pretty much universally regarded as the best of the series, but KOTCS didn't exactly break box office records. And I'm sure most of us would have rather gotten a 1:6 scale Henry Jones Sr. instead of Belloq or German disguise Indy.

Unless, of course, they're starting from both ends of the quadrilogy and working their way to the middle? :huh

Because to understand Sideshow's "character choice logic" you need to do what Jack Nicholson's character Melvin does in As Good As It Gets, when writing women:

"I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.

So were any opinions changed with the backstage pass? I don't know who that Sideshow employee is but he makes backstage passes a snoozfest. What's Clauder up to? or that cute girl from the Lando BP

Actually yeah, I am kind of interested in this PF. I think the BP video really sells the likeness a lot more than the pictures do.

i thought it made the pf look worse. the jacket now looks greenish so it must be the exact same one they used for the first pf..

my guess is they have already produced them all using the same range of materials, jackets, pistols etc etc

The more i look at this PF the more i like it, i think the likeness is awesome, you can really see it in the close up, i just want the whip to be not so circular, the ROTLA whip was great, but this one seems to perfectly round...

The pants look like they are more of a light tan colour then the ROTLA PF also, which i like better.

I am just hoping the fedora on this KOTCS PF is adjustable, not sure how i feel about it being pushed up like that...

I think it looks very good for the subject it's based on, I hope to heck they correct the MKVII bag and strap though, in KOTCS Indy wore the bag slung over his shoulder on the outside of the jacket, in the original three movies it was inside.

The problem is not the sculpt, it wasn't with the Raiders Indy either. The problem is the paint job and the costume. It is very easy to find massive amounts of reference on Google images or even go to indygear for great stills of the jacket, side bag, proper whip for each film, etc.

Indy's jacket, there were several versions in Raiders, and yes, some only went to his waist, but most hung lower, clear examples the "bad dates" scene and the idol opening.

As I have learned by looking at this sight, there are people out there who can fix just about anything wrong with these PF's. I wish that I had their talent (I have to hire everybody).

The other big problem is his pose, that was from a still taken for publicity purposes from Raiders. That is not a pose that I would associate with KOTCS. The best would have been either Indy putting on his hat, looking at his hat on the ground after he is pulled out of the trunk, or when he says "Russians". That opening was not only iconic, but it showed the true spirit of Indy, no matter how many times they through him down, he will keep getting back up. Like the classic quote: "Fall down seven times, get up eight."

That is the true spirit of Indy and why I think that he touches a cord deeper than most modern heroes ...

I think the likeness looks a lot better than in the photos. But this is certainly not something I'll be rushing out the buy. I'm more interested in other potential Indy PFs.

It's images like this that inspire "WTF?!" moments in me when people try to justify and defend the Medicom versions of Indy. NOTHING about that shot is visually appealing. This isn't a slight at the photography, merely an observation of the subject.

"Ouch". Did my ex-wife hire you?

But actually I do agree with you about the Medicom Indy, the Sideshow PF is the best Indy ever made.

And sorry about the crappy picture (and it's lack of visual appeal), I am writer, not a cinematographer. I was just trying to catch that moment from a different angle as Spielberg shot it, but, obviously, I am no Spielberg ...

Again, it wasn't poking any fun at the photography. I just remember reading many, many posts with people saying the Medi version was better than Sideshow's. It's not. But as for the concept, I agree. If Sideshow had posed Indy like he was in that hat scene, it would've been more relative to KOTCS. Sadly, despite that, the paint aps would still have made Indy look Yodified.

I'm guessing that after the first wave of Star Wars: ANH PF's SSC decided that making poses modeled after actual screen shots isn't the way to go. If they made a KOTCS PF sculpted to exactly match his "Part time" line it'd probably be even easier to scrutinize the imperfections.

Why The KOTCS? why not the Temple of Doom?

Someone may have allready said this. But I reckon they chose this Indy before others because it would sell even less than it is now if it was released after Doom or Crusade Indy.

The Sideshow Q&A already confirmed more Indy PFs after KOTCS so I would imagine that its just a matter of time when they hit TOD or TLC.

I don't think so. I think after having the other 3, people would almost be demanding a KOTCS Indy to round out the collection.

They have made efforts, which is good. One of the videos up shows a nice close up of the sculpt ... and it is pretty impressive. It is this video:

Indiana Jones - Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Backstage Pass»

If anyone from Sideshow looks here, please:

1) Make the Jacket longer and lighter in color, or better yet contact Tony Nowak (the actual jacket maker for the film): [email protected] , he would be happy to help. Just be looking at it I can tell you it needs to be 2.5 cm longer, that will fix a lot of the problem with it. Look at the below picture for the proper color:

<a href="https://s663.photobucket.com/albums/uu359/sparksr_2009/?action=view&current=Picture57.png" target="_blank"><img src="https://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu359/sparksr_2009/Picture57.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Also, thinner material is much better, it is cheaper for your company to buy and better for us fans, as the jacket will hang in a more natural manner. Everybody wins. I am located in Hong Kong close to the fabric selling areas, I would, for free, be happy to seek samples and get you all quotes. If a deal is struck the the cloth people I would be happy to help to ship the materials to you all (or to your factory which I would assume is in the general area of Dongguan or Shenzhen), no need to send someone here to Hong Kong.

I had a jacket made here with super thin material, and look at how it hangs:

2) Sorry, but the Whip is 100% wrong, it is a Terry Jacka Whip with a very distinctive handle (the wrist loop is tied in a knot). Again, indygear is a great resource. Check out this pic (this pic is also good to see the jacket and hat for proper color as well):

3) We all understand at the corporate level they may ask you to repurpose items from the last run on the ROTLA PF. However, there is some room for improvement on the gun belts as well.

The fact that there has been revisions is a big deal, and I am sure that we all appreciate it, it is almost the start of June, my guess is that we will see these around early December, there is time to fix these minor problems.

Thanks again for all of the excellent work and for making us Indy fans dreams of 28 years come true with your line of cool products.

Sorry for the long and rambling post, but if any of you have email contact with the Sideshow people, please show them this post. Thanks.
