Stop being so insensitive. Seriously, who are you trying to win over? They weren't making fun of anyone. It was some stupid intern who made a joke that made it much further than it should have.
Excuse me? I'm being insensitive? What kind of person hears about the deaths of innocents in a tragic plane crash and immediately thinks "LOLZ GOTTA MAKE RACIAL JOKES BOUT DER NAMES LOLZ"

Not trying to win anyone over. Surprised more of you don't think there's anything wrong with this.

I don't give a **** if the intern expected this to be aired or not, he's still a souless POS for doing that.

I can't imagine how angry I'd be if I was a family member of one of the victims and I saw this.

You have to make light of dark situations. Besides, this isn't funny because of the plane crash, this is funny because someone thought it was real and put it up on a news program.

She kinda ruined it by pronouncing it Fook instead of *** :lol

she paused slightly on *** as if she figured it out but then continued. didn't this show have a producer listening as it was happening, even if the anchor didn't realize she was being punked? i think the actions of the intern were typical about the sensitivity, or lack of it, displayed by many of the younger generation. only an immature jerk would hear about a horrific event and make racial jokes about the crew's names.

except this is funny regardless of the crash. It's the fact that someone got this on the air, and made it public,

This Asian is suggesting that you lighten up. Yu No Fun!

I could understand if they were making fun of the dead girl's names, but they weren't.

The word racist is thrown around way too often and too easily these days.

I agree, I look at it in this perspective. From a paramedics perspective. You try to find humor in any tragedy, it helps one cope. If you don't, then it makes the job even harder. This could have also done the same thing for people including the EMS workers who responded to the crash site.

The word racist thrown out too often now. But it's the easy way out. If most people don't get there way or don't agree with something someone else does, then you are usually labeled that. Sad, but true.

I think being over sensitive to race issues is just as bad as racism.

Some Caucasians can be really bad. They are so fearful of people judging them or thinking they are racist they have something to prove, so they get on anyone for jokes or anything that most people from other cultures laugh at. Like telling my Indian friends they have a nice tan or making fun of my friends accents. They make fun back. We should just accept the fact we're equals. Who cares where we came from.

Amen, brother Eli! :)

:lecture :exactly: The PC crowd seem to operate by the same 'broken window' theory that was so successfully applied in a law-enforcement/criminality context a few decades ago - that is, attending to the broken windows in a building prevents broader social and criminal problems from taking root.

In reacting so sensitively to these kinds of jokes, the PC brigade are basically saying that all humour associated with various ethnic groups or minorities is racist, and only serves to make racist attitudes more prevalent. Stop the jokes and deeper problems with racism can be eradicated from society, apparently.

Bollocks in my opinion. Reacting in this way to these kinds of jokes and stereotyping is actually distracting attention away from the real and more sinister incidences of racism that have no evident causal relationship to casual quips and remarks. Such as people with particular surnames being consistently denied a job interview or the like; or the use of more subtle and nuanced language by some groups to create divisions along ethnic lines in a community; or the harassment suffered by ethnic minorities going about their business in public.

But thanks for all y'all white folk speaking out behalf of all Asians. It's appreciated, but imo misguided and unnecessary. When I saw the clip I definitely was not So Ang Lee.

So Ang Lee... :lol talk about untapped talent right here.
