Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

That's amazing! What tools do you use?

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

Good job Chris! Your first serious sculpt looks more human than mine :D
Some people started doing their own sculpts and struggling to get the muscles around the mouth area correctly but you obviously dont have any trouble with that!

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

I hope you will be offering this Batman sculpt (and painting it too)! I have really been looking for a good Batman head and this is it!

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

:joy Im just glad you all think it looks like Batman
Ryu- I used a mixture of super sculpey and super sculpey firm, made a head armature and then tooled it with some tools I bought at Hobby Lobby it was like a carving type set, some of them kind of looked like dental tools as well.
The Art of Toys version was very cool, but cant find it anymore and I guess thats a good thing because thats what inintially started me on this sculpt.
Thanks Jack- I had dabbled with some resculpting here and there thanks to some of the work you have done but once i saw you jumping in to full on sculpts and saw Darren do the same, I was just totally pumped to start my own, so thanks for that too Jack.
BM- I will totally offer these to all the DC/Batman freaks out there, once i am finished with modifying it in wax, I am gonna take some tutorials on casting, so im saving my money for fancy casting equipment. My wife promised me if I finally got around to sculpting she would learn how to cast for me haha, we'll see. I think she was hoping my first sculpt would be a Harley Quinn sculpture though :google,
It would be cool if I could get a few other sculptors to help out with a Justice League group sculpt :naughty

Can you tell what artist inspiration I used?

you're in the world of sculpting indeed. wow! can't wait to see some more, it's getting me all pumped up to sculpt haha

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

Hey Kuato, is there a way to contact you that I'm not seeing? Just had a few questions about a commission. Thanks!

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

Thanks DrJedi :)
Ryu- no problem bud, i hope you give it a shot to or if you are alreadys sculpting I hope my info helps, mixing the two sculpeys really works well for me, the firm was too stiff and flakey sometimes and the regular is too soft.
Daniel- you have been quite the inspiration for me as well my friend, im glad I pumped you up to sculpt your next portrait haha
Marfmaster- unfortunately I am not taking any commissions at the moment, thats why I disabled my pm option. but when I do take on more I will post it right here.

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

Glad to hear you'll be offering up this Batman! Its looking great! I haven't found a 1:6 comic Batman head like yet until I saw yours, and its not even done yet!

So definatley put me down for a painted one!

Right on, thanks for the heads up!:rock

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

Hmmm, never thought about mixing the 2 sculpeys? I had the same concern with firm that it seemed flakey... but somewhere between the two would be great.

I need to make a run to hobby lobby :lecture

Re: Kuato's Paintwork and Customs

Chris,
Definitely put me down for a painted one. That is an amazing sculpt and I'm a big Alex Ross and DC fan. I purchased the Art of Toys head put on a DC Direct 13" body a few years ago. The head was definitely large enough to accomodate the 13" body.It would be great to have the head in a proper 1/6 size.
Here's a picture of mine:

I'm really looking forward to yours though :banana
