Well I have 6 SS SW PF's that don't light up anymore so I am perfectly fine with this decision.

Why don't they light up anymore? Have the light-up features in the past been so poor that they just stop working after a while or there more to it than that?

A result of poor quality. Either in the components used or in the engineering. Some of the simplest toys I have from the 90's are still turning, lighting, etc.

Wish I knew why. All of mine are lightsabers that no longer work. The electronics have always been very sensitive and relied on them putting wires through the leg of the PF. There is an adaptor on foot and a jack in the arm holding the saber Long story short, it could be the button, could be the wiring in the leg, could be the filament in the saber broke or maybe the connector in the foot or hand is bad. So many variables can go wrong over time. I shipped two SW PF's that I sold and I bought one second hand all three lit up before shipping and on receipt not a single one worked. As Ink said, its just a really delicate feature.

So, maybe, we shouldn't care so much whether or not Kylo Ren's saber lights up since Sideshow's crappy design and track record with these things is dismal at best...

My opinion is that we should hope they won't make it light up so the statue could possibly be cheaper, and then the money you've saved can be used to pay a good customizer to make a lightsaber that lights up for your statue, such as the cold cathode lightsabers made on this very forum in the customs section for statues 1:6 and up. I have one myself for a 1:6 statue and it looks great, seems like a better option than Sideshow's dodgy electronics, once the customizers figure out how to craft a crossblade CCFL. For the others that don't want it lit up, then you just saved that money. :)

Why buy a statue that typically has a light up,saber, hoping it doesn't, so you can spend even more money to get a custom one?

We'll have to wait and see. SS and Star Wars never equates to "cheaper".

I didn't keep it long enough for it to stop working so I can't say, but I had Darth Malgus PF and thought his lit-up lightsaber looked awesome. I wish they did the same with Kylo.

Me too, although he's probably the only PF I'd want from the force awakens unless they make a real nice stormtrooper. Captain Phasma looked good but was a totally useless character.

I think we have yet to see a lot more of Phasma. This film she was merely introduced. Just IMO I think there'll be more.

I don't doubt that, but she'll always be remembered as, a complete pushover from this movie no matter what they may do with her in future. It is a pretty cool looking armour none the less. And aspects of it were originally intended as an early Kylo Ren design I believe. I do prefer Kylo's final look however, I'm definitely ordering this pf.

Remember that when the planet was collapsing, one of the officers mentioned General Hux is already gone. Evacuation procedures was well underway.

In regards to phasma

Guys, we all know trash compactors don't actually kill people in the Star Wars universe! Silly.
