You need to keep your eyes closed and let them heal the rest of the day and night.

They will itch too but you cannot scratch them.

That was one of the hardest parts for me. They hurt and itched all night and the medicine they gave me did not do much.

Oh, you can also smell it when they perform the actual surgery....kind of freaky huh?

Good luck, even though there are some scary parts it is WELL worth the money.

How long do you think it would be until I could fly again? :monkey2

I wonder if the pressure changes as you go up and down in altitude would affect the surgery?
Put it this way I was told not to surf for 1 month. I don't think that would be an issue, unless your in a unpressurized plane. I flew about a week and a half later. I would say two tops thats how long to recreate the seal completely if I remeber correct.

lol, reminds me of Minority Report when the doc tells Anderton "Dont scratch!!"

Ok now that Badmoon has started his or is even done. If you plan on getting Lasik you probally dont want to keep reading.

Well I have a semi horror story. I go in and they give me have a zanax and some numbing drops for my eyes. I sit there for abour 20-30 min. I go in and all is good, but after the first eye I notice the numbing drops are wearing off, I can feel a weird sensation while they do the laser cut. They have me come out and site letting the the eyes get ready for the lens to be pulled back. About 2-3 min go by and then searing pain starts in my eyes, the numbing drops have worn off, they were supposed to last over and hour but they didn't and this is quite normal for me. Medication hits me very fast and dies off even faster. So I get a nurses attention she gives me more numbing drops all is good. I sit there maybe 20-30 min and well guess what they wear off during the second half. No pain but I could feel them poking to grab the lens flap. Then all is done I can see when they finish but my eyes were tearing like crazy as pain and felt very iritated. That lasted until I got home popped a couple advil and the other zanaz , then I layed there all day. Then I go in for the post op and well it seems that due to the numbing drops wearing off I have tons of white blood cells in my eye trying to undo the surgery. Basicly the drops I was to take every four hours became one an hour for 3 staright days. I was putting drops in my eyes every 30 min for 3 straight days. Like I have said all was good it was just my bodies way that it responds to medication. I would do it again if I had to.

Ok well my wife is flipping because I am on here but f it. It all went well. I was really scared and really tense during the whole thing. I am glad that your eye is blacked out when the minature deli slicer goes over it. LOL! All went well so far. I came home and laid down for about 3 hours. I really should have my eyes closed but the 3 valiums just aren't helping me sleep so I am about to take 4 and 5 once I get off. My vision is still a bit blurry and I have to wear what looks like basketball googles or something for the rest of the day. My eyes feel like there is stuff in them on the outside corners. My wife said that that is where they made the cut for the flap. All and All I guess time will tell. I have a follow up tomorrow and we will se. Mfoga thanks for waiting to share your story. LOL! That probably would have made me freak out more. Well I have to get off now so my wife doesn't kill me. More to come about the experience tomorrow. As of now I have a date with prince valium. -Beetlejuice reference. LOL!

LOL! It smelled like burnt cat hair. :monkey4

The stuff in the corners of you eyes feeling is from the things they use to hold your eyes open, it goes away. As for the goggles you may want to hold onto them. If you are one of those people who rubbed thir eyes alot they are at night. I wore them for a few weeks to make sure I didnt rub my eyes. I had a friend who did a day or two after and ltes just say it was bad for a few days.

I am an eye rubber myself. I am just not rubbing. I am going to wear them at night though at least for a few days.

Ok well here is the low down. I went in and they put booties on my feet and a surgical hat. They then walked me into the room. The Dr. put two dots with a special marker on each eye. He said this wouldn't hurt but I didn't like it very much. My eyes were really tearing up at this point. They then put me in the chair and positioned my in from of the laser. They then gave me a big stuffed fish to hug. I know it sounds stupid but it was comforting in a way. They then taped my right eye upper and lower eyelashes and taped my left eye closed and put a shield on it. They then put a spectulum in my right eye to hold it open. This was very uncomfortable but managable. Then the put this metal clamp over my eye. This was the part that made me hold my breath. They had to remind me at this point to calm down and take deap breaths. Then my eye blacked out and they put a machine on that to cut the flap. It was really quick thank god. Then the lifted the flap and everything went blurry. Then the laser treatment started. I had to stare at a red light for 26 seconds while the guy operating the laser counted down. This part wasn't too bad. It did smell really funny (like burnt hair). They then put the flap in place and put more drops in. They then sponged the excess fluid out and removed the horrid spectulum. After that they removed the tape and did my right eye. They told me to go home and sleep. After my quick post earlier I did just that. I just can't sleep anymore and am bored. I can see ok but not as well as I would like too. They told me it will only improve from now on and that it takes time. My right eye is better than my left right now. I am left eye dominant so it is a bit weird. So I guess that's it so far. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow at 2:45. Hopefully when I wake up I can see a little better. I did look outside and so far hove no halos or double vision or anything. So that makes me happy. Thanks for your support throughout this Freaks! It has been a weird journey.

I know I know. Almost bed time. I just can't keep them shut any longer. I am too much of a busy body. I will get off the computer though. You are probably right and my wife is still getting pissed. Good night all!

Damn. mine was a piece of cake. I went in with the sterile outfit, took my valium, got my drops. 20 minutes later I was in the chair being flipped upside down, the little bracket over my eye. The thing came over, made the cut and moved the flap. The laser went on for several seconds. Then they did the right eye which was a little more uncomfortable since I knew what was coming. My actual procedure, from entering the room to leaving was under ten minutes.
I went home, had very little itching, no pain. I didn't even take the percocet. The next day I went for a follow up and I was at 20/20. The next week I was at 20/15.
Anyway, I'm glad it went well Badmoon, welcome to the club.

Yeah well I am still awake. LOL! I think it went very well. My left eye is still a bit off. All of the itching and pain is pretty much gone now as well. What a stressing day!

Happy to report that after a brief night of discomfort I woke up and can see crystal clear. My follow up appointment is today at 2:45. I can't wait to see how close I am to 20/20.

Ok so here is my last update. I just got back from my follow up and am 20/20 in both eyes. I guess I am lucky because my doctor told me this is not the case with most people. He did say that it may change at times. Hopefully it will end up being better than 20/20. My next follow up is on the 11th. Then I think I have another one in a month.

I lost track of this for a few days, but I am glad it went well for you Badmoon. Thanks for the info. Not sure I can or will ever do this, but I can at least think about it, and talk to a doc myself.
Glad to know it's gone well though. :rock

Thanks Les! Your right though it can't hurt to sit in on a free consult. Let me know if you ever go and how you make out. It makes for a pretty interesting 4 weeks.
