Just got this notification:

Thank you for your order of our George Lazenby as James Bond – Legacy Collection 12-inch Figure (item #7734) from our James Bond 12-inch Figures Collection. We appreciate your patience in waiting for the arrival of this back-ordered Limited Edition, Sold Out item, and would like to inform you that this item will be arriving in our Los Angeles warehouse within approximately the next 30 days.

Due to a last minute licensor change, the cigarette pack accessory has been removed from the product prior to shipping. Therefore you may see an empty compartment within the product blister package where this item would have been placed.

So Sarah Connor is not the only one to have an accessory removed. I can understand why a cigarette pack might be controversial but the exclusive edition Moonraker Bond came with a cigarette case as the exclusive accessory so I don't understand why, now, suddenly, a cigarette pack is too controversial to include. Remember, these aren't for the kids, they are for grown-ups.

it's this insensible world we live in....everyone needs to be protected from everything because we are too weak to make our own decisions. i blame it on the hippies.

i think SS should make them available seperately.

Sad.... As a non-smoker I could care less if it comes with a cigarette pack. It's not really a "doll" for impressionable kids now is it? At least I got one with the Legacy Connery.

Yes, the Hippies have turned into a bunch of conservative hipocrytes haven't they? They have become everything they rebelled against and now feel that it is their responsibility to keep on parenting the younger generations.

good point i never thought about the irony.

This "Political Correctness" has gone too far. It's akin to fascism. "It's for your own good," as our leaders would say. Gee, didn't all tyrants utter those words from Caesar to Hitler. There is no longer any freedom of choice in this country. It's Coke or Pepsi now choose. No, you can't have Dr. Pepper. It's bad for your teeth. Our civil liberties are being undermined one-by-one.

But I digress.

Back to the point of the topic.

They said it's a last minute licensor change thing. Maybe it has to do with licensor approval? The PC s#!t sucks, it really pisses me off that they made Wolverine quit smoking cigars; the guy has a healing factor, it would never hurt him. The orange caps on toy guns is bad enough, now they force them on Airsoft guns.
They still have smoking sections in restraints here, but that won't last long. It's gotten way out of hand, and I'm a nonsmoker.

Frankly if Sideshow removes an item from the accessory list, they should give the people that ordered it a discount. Sure it is small, but if it isn't worth anything why not put it in? $1 or so would be sufficient. I mean sometimes an accessory is the best thing about a figure. What if the exclusive accessory was the one dropped? That could be an issue. What if Subject 560's briefcase got dropped? Just seems like things should be known ahead of time wether they can be made in the first place.

I just don't see why the government goes to great lengths in 'protecting' people from cigerettes. Why don't they just ban them? Seems more logical than 'limiting' them. I mean really, the only point to them is really to kill people.

because they make billions off the taxes on them.

Taxes aside, they could ban them altogether. They tried it with alcohol and we all know how that ended up. On the same token they're trying it with drugs and that's not working out so great either. Also, in all honesty, smoking is an unhealthy habit but for some people it is a necessary coping mechanism without which they would be unable to function. Granted its not a healthy coping mechanism, but sometimes there aren't too many available options.

As far as smoking in restuarants I disagree with limiting a person's freedom by banning it, yet at the same time it isn't fair that smoke from smoking sections often drift into the non-smoking. Which is a pretty big deal if a person has allergies or asthma that cigarette smoke can aggravate, aside from the effects of second hand smoke on all.

Straying back to the topic of Lazenby not having the cigarettes... with cigarette companies being sued and such one has to wonder how long until movies and TV shows that "encourage" :)rolleyes: IMO) until these places are sued soon. So it may be a move of the licensor and/or Sideshow covering their butts.

And they spend billions trying to get people to quit. Seems like it should balance out. Stupid taxes. :monkey4

actually after the judgement against the tobacco companies the tobacco companies pay for those commercials.

Yeah I always find it humorous to see Phillip Morris' stop smoking ads.

I would want to know what they would have done with the Cigerette Smoking Man if this happened :lol
Change him to nicorette chewing man and charge nicorette a hefty advertising fee.

Nick Cage wouldn't allow his Windtalkers figure to come with a gun. Spielberg pulled the plug on the Hanks Private Ryan GiJoe because Ryan was an R-rated movie.

Sometimes the licensors are completely oblivious to what the market is for certain products and the licensees don't want to rock the boat by trying to educate them about it.

I didn't get that email, but didn't even notice my Lazenby didn't have cigarettes. He had plenty of alcohol and a firearm, so we've got at least 2/3s of the ATF covered, just not the most dangerous part.

You said it Dave....

Still seems like a silly thing to have happen.... no cigs for an adult collectible?? You can have a zombie Spiderman statue with a half eaten Mary Jane but no cigarettes for Bond? Pretty silly to me....

Did you already receive a Legacy Lazenby?

Yep, he arrived in the same box as Sarah Connor. He looks okay - would have preferred the kilt of course...
