Pacific Rim took its time to show the final battle, Audiences were fine with the movie for the most part :dunno

Prometheus took a long time to get going and you don't even see the most important stuff until the very end, and the fans were okay with it.
I personally love Both movies, and i didn't mind that they took a long time to show stuff, and the complaints of Prometheus are not really about the slow reveal but about the stupid decisions and how things were not making sense.

I feel like you just mentioned two of the most conflicted films that have come out in recent years. I always hear opinions of these films on opposite sides of the spectrum. Love those two or hate them.

Im a bit more forgiving with wooden acting since I know all the characters take the threat seriously. If they were cracking non-humorous one liners it would get to me more (like PR) but I don't need oscar award winning acting to truly make the film special. i do wish that Cranston would be the main character throughout, but whatever.

I always wished Jeremy Renner would be Cranston's son in this but we could do much worse than Kick-Ass.

Quick thing, Pacific Rim may have had build up to the big fight, but you also saw and had complete fights leading to that, which is why it worked.

As for the quality of humans in this movie, plenty of people don't care much for Edwards' Monsters and I like the movie, it's not the best movie I ever saw and nowhere near all-time favorite characters, but they work, they're engaging and make the journey enjoyable. That's all I hope for.

But it actually went up, it usually goes down prior release.

Most of the press have already submitted their reviews.

Not true. Usually a film gets at least 20-something reviews nowadays. So far we only have seven on Rotten Tomatoes.

But it says 39 on RT?

And the score went up to 90%...

"Edwards' version of "Godzilla" remains the ultimate monster movie. The legacy has been upheld."

I was just saying, audiences are still okay with slow burn movies. not all hope is lost :lol

I'm not normally one for posting while doing anything, but I'm seriously hyped to see this. Waiting for doors to open outside preview screen.
10mins!

Please be honest with your review- huge G fan but have serious reservations about this film from reviews I have read...

If you look at "top critics" as in, professional film critics with actual sites, there are only 7 reviews. Those 39 are user reviews. Maybe some of them have small jobs as film critics (or have simply just written a lot of reviews as a hobby) but those are unofficial.

Just got my Godzilla Art of Destruction book.... Leafed though it quickly... It does not disappoint. Maulfan... You are going to love it... Granted I went through quickly but it does not skimp on Godzilla and Muto art. Sort of afraid to look at it too much due to spoilers... But it even goes in depth about the different Godzilla Spines.. Love the book!

Official or Unofficial I don't care... It's still just someone who took the time to share their opinion on a film they saw. I give no more weight to a Roger Ebert review then I do a bloggers.

Hmmmm....actually thought they separated those already and those 39 were the professionals. That was kind of my assumption I guess lol. Either way, the same then applies for every other movie with a decent score do its still a very nice score to see :)

Yea Im sick of reading peoples opnions. I'll see for myself this weekend. Good thing tuesday is half over now.

I'm with you, I won't be reading anymore reviews until I see it on saturday. I've read a few just to get an idea of what I'm going to get, just to get my expectations in line but considering I bought King Kong vs Godzilla on blu ray yesterday, watched it, and freaking love it, I don't think i'm to concerned about what the rest of the critics think of this film, I already know where I stand as a godzilla fan.

Agreed. At this point, the majority of critics in print for big time newspapers or magazines that are all online anyway are just like the bloggers and fan site critics. None of them studied film or film criticism in college. Decades ago, that may have been the case. Not anymore. At least Ebert studied film and knew film criticism but at the end of the day opinions about film should NEVER influence your choice whether you like or dislike a film.

Ebert did not like Die Hard... And he thought Die Hard 2 was better then the original.... Soooo it just goes to show... Study film or not your opinion can still suck :) lol!!!

Man I just think back about the 98 Godzilla and how my gut hurt with worry that the film was in the hands of the ID4 guys (I have never cared at all for that film) but how I still held out hope.. and then the first pics of Godzilla himself leaked out and how it was a punch to the guy... I feeling of utter defeat. But I still held out hope... And then the reviews from Godzilla fans and then seeing the film itself. Never bought anything related to that film.

Fast forward to today and we are arguing about weather or not the Rotten Tomatoes meter at 90% is legit or not and how people seem to all agree that Godzilla kicks ass and that the Human characters are not the best but that the film still gets good ratings because Godzilla himself is great. The fact that I bought the Making of book and the Soundtrack for a film I have not seen yet because it looks great...

Just funny to compare the two films leading up to release.
