That's probably a kids book. :lol

I don't want an over complicated Godzilla, aka Transgodzillaformers. :lol

Can't believe that design took so long for them to finalize. I could have drawn something like that in 5 minutes. If it looks good on film than I'm fine with it, but it's very, very simple. Like they followed a 4 year old's description of Godzilla.

Really? OK, you got 5 minutes to draw one, show us your mad skills! :rolleyes2

No green scales? Is he gonna have a purple atomic blast? :lol

Don't roll your eyes at me.

Seriously though, you don't think you can outline that design in like five minutes?

Maybe I drew Godzilla alot as a kid, I don't know, but I've taken liberties with his look in my middle school classes and made something more interesting.

And is it safe to say that that post or this thread is now in jeopardy??

But it's so much more of nuance when you have an older design that you must adhere to. I'm sure they had to consider that fact that they did not want to deviate from the Godzilla everyone recognizes.
I would bet the process of coming up with his design was actually a pain in the @ss to the developers.

Meh im not worried about that. Its a kids book so its a little more light hearted looking. I remember spiderman 3 childrens books came out and venom was purple and people would ****ing go crazy about it. Nevertheless he looked nothing like that but of course we all know it didnt help the movie.:(

Wait'll the Art book comes out, I'm sure they were a lot of designs toyed with, but like was said, you're a bit stuck coming up wih a fresh design on something and having to still look like it enough.

Good example. And like I said, I'm sure it'll look good to screen and in motion. I think I just wish the face was a bit more menacing and I guess some part of my misses the maple leaf-shape of the spines. I think they could have incorporated the bone-look to them and a more interesting shape..like GMK Godzilla did. But it'll look fine.

But it's so much more of nuance when you have an older design that you must adhere to. I'm sure they had to consider that fact that they did not want to deviate from the Godzilla everyone recognizes.

It seemed like it was. I just wonder if they had more aggressive and radical designs that passed on for fear of backlash from the faithful Godzilla fans and settled on this, which looks overly safe in my view. But as Maulfan said, the artbook may include some insight into this.

Good find Ironwez, and if you didn't post this here I was definitely going to so no worries :wink1:

Just realized, this is probably real art but it's separate images, the light hitting his torso and spines is coming from the left while the light hitting the head is coming from the right.

Remember these art pieces from G98.

I get it! They made zilla look scary when he wasnt and make Godzilla look lighthearted when he most likely wont be. Genius!!!
