Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Finally got the brow and socket less deep than I'd been getting it, it's really not that sunken in on the new Godzilla but it kept coming out that way on me, wasn't getting the shading right but now it's coming along.

To me, Gino's spikes don't look very natural, the 2014 spikes look in line with the concept behind the original Godzilla, that as part of his mutation, bone grew up and out of his skin. It's subtle in that book ad but in the teaser poster you can see flesh running up his spines like the Toho Godzillas.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

I really have high hopes, I feel like all the fun of Godzilla movies will be in it and the human story will actually have substance.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

I just hope they don't kill him off

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

I'm ok with him being killed if the story line is such that 2 could have been created or another being created in the future. The message in Gojira was that if we continue using radioactive weapons, another Godzilla could rise. If this movie does indeed have a similar message, then I'm fine with sequels being a new Godzilla.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

If this movie kicks ***, i'm ok with a sequel where Godzilla gets banished to the moon and has Moonraker type battles with space marines.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

If Godzilla is killed I just hope by it's some extreme measure of desperation. Like, killing him should be as costly and devastating to mankind as Godzilla's attack was. Either physically or emotionally.

:exactly: Hail to the king!!! :bow

Well someone else was thinking the same thing and altered the spike look.

Before

After

I prefer the spikes in the 'Before' pic, but prefer the facial changes made to the 'After' pic. It still needs a little work, but it looks less bear-like.

They won't. That would kill their shot at making a true sequel. And Gareth Edwards isn't Roland Emmerich. Edwards knows his Godzilla and knows he can't be killed by anything. As Edwards said, Godzilla is "like a force of nature" and you just can't kill something like that.

I don't need it to be that extreme, but I do think it should take some large sacrifice like it did in Gojira.

That's what I mean though. It's got to be a sacrifice. It can't be something easy so every time a Godzilla reappears they can just be like "oh, let's just do what we did last time."

The Oxygen Destroyer would have vanquished Tokyo. It destroyed Tokyo Bay and all the life in it i'm sure. It must have had a gripping impact on 1954 Tokyo economic wise as well. Not to mention the psychological fear of weapons of mass destruction and the toll they bring.

But for the plot, the OD presented mankind with a one-shot deal to rid themselves of Godzilla. What else in the world can do that? It's got to be something horrendous in itself to be able to destroy Godzilla and make anybody hesitant to go to such an extreme.

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Godzilla returning in a big budget US movie sequel depends on one thing only, box office performance.

If it succeeds they will make up whatever reason needs to be made up for his return.

They can kill him in part one and if it makes money he will be back.

They can keep him alive in part one and if it doesn't make money he will not be back.
