Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Hard to say what we're in for, the leaked version we're talking about used temp footage of Godzilla from a concept trailer, no telling what footage we get. I hope we get a new poster and some publicity shots too.

Are you surprised that they haven't done more to market this movie at this point?

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

I'm surprised but at the same time everyone knows the name Godzilla.

I just hope its not a sign of lack of confidence by the studio.

Yeah, but hype it up, you know? Everyone knows Godzilla, but let everyone know he's coming. Let it 'simmer on their brains' for awhile.

I wonder how it will do at the box office, both domestic & internationally?

Hopefully as much as Avengers/IM3/TDK so that the studios treat the license with the high budget respect it deserves, which is long overdue.

But also critically acclaimed. :lecture

As much as this is a big budget film, it's a serious movie with a message, not sure how much extra hype will draw people in. People aren't going to line up for the movie because they were bombarded with marketing for months. You just have to sell how interesting and good the movie will be. The leaked work print trailer does just that, it focuses less on the monsters and more on the story and that's what they need to do, a few quick monster shots and the title Godzilla are all you need for that aspect. I look at Pacific Rims marketing as a failure, they pushed aspects that have a "been there, done that" quality and people weren't as excited as the studio would have liked. Perhaps they're even taking so long to make sure it's done right. All I know is, as a lifelong fan, I'm very happy with the quality and effort we have seen out into this film and it's marketing, the studio clearly respects and understands the fandom and the franchise.

And they can respect the franchise....by slapping Godzilla's big ol' face on the side of a 7-11 Slurpee cup. Radioactive raspberry, FTW!!! :rock Who's with me?!

j/k :rotfl

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

I think it says "Godzilla, coming to a slurpee cup near you soon!"

I was just about to say that!!!

DREAM COME TRUE!!! :lol

Seriously though, you and I need to work on this. We could potentially save the city from Godzilla. :lecture

I love this stuff. So cool and yet, so freaky.

I will say that the first 'leg' of the viral for SDCC was a bust, IMO, for those that weren't able to go. I want this to develop into an awesome ARG. Keep it exciting and get people actively involved. This could really shape up to be something. It's starting at the perfect time. I hope it doesn't fail my expectations.

I'm a superhero cbm nut, I even find pleasure in bad superhero movies, yet Godzilla is my most anticipated movie for 2014.

Vamenos.....Chap. :yess:

In all seriousness though, we need to get everyone involved here. This will be pretty fun. :rock Hopefully, it amounts to something.

Any ideas on where to start?

I'm sure we'll get an update with the new trailer, but as of now, I'm at a standstill. I can't gain access to anything yet. We may have to sit tight until the trailer, for further instructions.
